In an unassuming office in the heart of Orange County, a new language of medicine is being spoken. It is not the language of heavy pharmaceutical intervention or invasive surgery, but the “biological shorthand” of peptides.

As the global medical community shifts its focus from merely managing symptoms to actively restoring vitality, Irvine.health has emerged as a central player in what many are calling “The Biological Reset.” This transition is being fueled by a perfect storm of groundbreaking research from Harvard Medical School, a seismic regulatory shift in early 2026, and a unique business model designed to navigate California’s stringent medical laws.

The MSO Model: Navigating California’s Medical Landscape

Unlike traditional corporate health clinics, Irvine.health operates as a Management Services Organization (MSO). This distinction is vital for regulatory compliance in California. Under the state’s Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM) doctrine, business corporations are prohibited from practicing medicine or employing physicians to do so.

“As an MSO, our role is to provide the infrastructure, the technology, and the administrative expertise that allows doctors to practice at the absolute top of their license,” says Christopher South, the founder of Irvine.health. “We provide the bridge between the complex science emerging from places like the Sinclair Lab at Harvard and the day-to-day reality of patient care.”

By handling the administrative “heavy lifting,” Irvine.health ensures that the “Reset” is conducted under direct physician supervision, maintaining the highest standard of care while allowing medical professionals to focus entirely on patient outcomes.

The “Information Theory of Aging”

The conceptual foundation of this revolution is rooted in the “Information Theory of Aging,” championed by Dr. David Sinclair and the Sinclair Lab at Harvard University. Sinclair’s theory suggests that our cells do not lose their fundamental “blueprint” (DNA) as we age; rather, they lose the ability to read it accurately.

Sinclair famously compares the genome to a digital CD and the epigenome—the cellular machinery that reads the DNA—to the CD player. Aging, he argues, is the result of “scratches” on the disc (epigenetic noise) that prevent the music of our youth from playing clearly.

“The discovery from the Sinclair Lab is that the body retains a ‘backup copy’ of youthful information,” South explains. “By using specific signaling molecules like peptides, we can effectively ‘polish the scratches’ and reboot the system. We aren’t just masking a problem; we are tapping into the body’s internal software.”

This theory moved closer to clinical ubiquity in early 2026, when the FDA cleared the first human clinical trials for cellular reprogramming therapy, an effort spearheaded by Sinclair-backed biotech initiatives seeking to reverse the biological age of specific tissues.

A Regulatory Renaissance: The “Essential 14”

The practical application of these principles today primarily involves peptides—short chains of amino acids that act as the body’s own messenger system.

In a landmark decision in February 2026, federal health authorities announced that approximately 14 essential peptides—including the highly sought-after BPC-157, Thymosin Alpha-1, and GHK-Cu—would be moved from the FDA’s “Category 2” restricted list back to Category 1. This reclassification allows licensed 503A compounding pharmacies to legally prepare these compounds again when prescribed by a physician.

“The FDA’s decision to re-legalize these peptides is a win for clinical transparency,” says South. “It allows our affiliated physicians to move away from unregulated ‘research chemicals’ and provide patients with pharmaceutical-grade, physician-supervised treatments that prioritize safety.”

The Evidence Gap: From Lab Rats to Living Rooms

Despite the clinical excitement, the peptide revolution still faces a significant “evidence gap” that researchers and practitioners must navigate.

Critics point out that the vast majority of rigorous, peer-reviewed studies on peptides like BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound) have been conducted primarily in animal models. While these studies show near-miraculous tissue repair and gut healing in rodents, large-scale, “gold standard” human trials are still catching up.

“We have to be grounded in reality,” South admits. “While the animal data is stunning and the anecdotal success stories from thousands of patients are incredibly compelling, we are still on the frontier. That is why physician oversight via our MSO model is so critical. We aren’t just selling a product; we are facilitating a medically-monitored protocol where we track real human biomarkers to ensure the safety and efficacy of the treatment.”

California’s Legislative Frontier: AB 2442

As 2026 unfolds, California is positioned to lead this movement through new legislative frameworks. Currently, the state is monitoring Assembly Bill 2442, which aims to establish a state-authorized research and therapeutic access program for advanced medical treatments, potentially providing further legitimacy and oversight to the work being done at facilities supported by Irvine.health.

Digital Edition Note: Readers can track the progress and details of this legislation via the official CA AB 2442 Bill Analysis on Digital Democracy.

“We are standing at the threshold of a new frontier,” says South. “The ability to rebuild the body at a cellular level is no longer a distant hope—it is a clinical reality. We are finally learning to speak the body’s own language, and the results are transformative.”

In the heart of San Felipe, Baja California, hundreds of American and Canadian and Mexican homeowners invested their life savings into what they believed would be a peaceful seaside community: La Ventana del Mar.

What they did not expect was a firestorm of legal conflict, unanswered questions, and mounting allegations that have begun to stain the reputation of a once-promising development.

Today, many owners are asking a simple but urgent question:

**Will Baja California enforce its own laws to protect investors —

or will it side with a developer accused of manipulation, intimidation, and obstruction?**

A Dispute That Should Never Have Become a Crisis

The controversy centers on developer J. Patrick Butler, an American businessman who, according to multiple owners, has attempted to hold onto administrative power long after the law says that power should shift to the paying condominium owners.

Under Baja California’s Condominium Law, owners have the absolute legal right to:

Elect their own administrator

Control their budgets

Access financial records

Receive transparent accounting

Remove a non-compliant administrator by majority vote

Yet according to a growing number of owners, Butler and several individuals aligned with him have:

Refused to hand over documents, bank records, and equipment

Attempted to suspend owner access for paying dues to the legally elected administrator

Spread misinformation about land ownership

Used threatening letters to intimidate residents

Claimed private contracts override Mexican public-order law

These are serious allegations, and they have prompted a wave of concern among foreign investors who want to know whether Mexico’s legal institutions will stand with the law — or with the developer they accuse of undermining it.

Owners Say the Law Is Clear — But the Developer Ignores It

In October, the paying owners of several condominium regimes held a legally convened Extraordinary Assembly, as permitted by the Baja California Condominium Law.

They voted — lawfully — to remove the old administration and appoint a new one.

Butler responded by claiming the vote was invalid, warning owners that their access could be restricted, and asserting that he still controls administrative powers, roads, and “all land within the gates.”

Owners say these claims are simply false.

One owner noted, “I own property , and therefore I legally own a share of the common area. For Butler to say he owns all the land inside the gates is just not true.”

Another added, “This is not about politics. This is about transparency. We pay nearly 1.6 million dollars a year in condo dues. We have the right to see where that money goes.”

A Threat to Foreign Investment?

While the legal dispute plays out, many American retirees and investors watching from the sidelines are asking whether Baja California will enforce the rule of law.

Some fear that if a foreign developer can simply disregard legally elected administrators, withhold documents, or intimidate condo owners without consequence, then the message to future investors could be chilling:

“Your investment is safe only until someone powerful decides otherwise.”

Mexico has worked for years to build trust with foreign investors. The question now is whether state institutions — notaries, the Officialía Conciliadora, and the Registro Público — will act swiftly and decisively to protect the rights of condominium owners.

**This Isn’t Just About One Developer —

It’s About Confidence in Mexico’s Legal System**

Baja California has a strong, clear condominium law designed to protect homeowners from exactly this type of situation. But a law unenforced is a law that loses credibility.

The eyes of the community — and of future American investors — are now watching to see how the state responds:

Will the developer be required to hand over documents as the law requires?

Will the elected administrator be recognized without obstruction?

Will illegal intimidation tactics be stopped?

Will the government send the message that Baja is a safe, stable place for foreign retirees and investors?

Or will silence and inaction embolden those accused of abusing the system?

A Critical Moment for Trust and Transparency

Residents say they are optimistic. They believe that Baja California respects its own laws and will ultimately uphold the rights of condo owners, not the interests of a developer facing serious accusations.

But they also know that the next few weeks will be decisive.

As one owner summarized:

“This is about whether Baja California stands with the law — or with a developer who thinks he’s above it.”

Foreign investment thrives on trust.
Whether that trust grows or collapses may depend on what happens next.

Blocked for now by a federal court order from sending warrantless roving immigration patrols through Los Angeles and six other Southern California counties, U.S. agents on Thursday moved their sweeps north to Sacramento.

Border Patrol section chief Gregory Bovino made it abundantly clear that the point of the operation at a Home Depot parking lot in South Sacramento was embodied in the same word, the same concept, as the round-ups in Los Angeles. They are about “sanctuary.”

It is a word that has clearly gotten under Bovino’s skin, just as it has gotten under the skin of immigration opponents in the White House and the Capitol.

“There is no sanctuary city,” Bovino told Fox News. “Sacramento is not a sanctuary city. The state of California is not a sanctuary state. There is no sanctuary anywhere.”

If by that he meant that no jurisdiction can protect residents from federal immigration law, he is of course correct. The Constitution’s Supremacy Clause leaves no doubt about that. States, counties and cities that describe themselves as sanctuaries are engaging in recklessly misleading political marketing. Their laws at most prevent local police from questioning suspects about their immigration status, for example, or block jailers from holding inmates past their release dates so the feds can get them.

But the federal government’s contempt for sanctuary appears to go well beyond the modest if over-sold local policies. Their actions and statements demonstrate that they respect no sanctuary, no refuge, no protection in the very things they purport to be guarding: the law, the Constitution, the American people, and their safety, values and sovereignty.

District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong’s blistering July 11 order, which the administration has appealed, lays out the frightening details of a government that has turned hard-won American freedoms inside out.

In this country, unlike most others in the world, the people are free to go about their business without having to show their papers to government agents on demand, absent probable cause to believe they have committed a crime, or at least sufficient suspicion to ask them questions. Those same agents, by contrast, must identify themselves, and not merely by brandishing their guns. They must be clearly distinguishable in action and appearance from crooks of the sort who kidnap residents of third-world countries. Here there is no army of secret police. There are no roving bands of quasi-military thugs.

Until now. Border Patrol and ICE agents in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties, and now in Sacramento, hide their faces, tint their car windows, remove their license plates, cover their badges, ignore requests for identification, and target people based on where they work and how they look.

If this conduct is allowed to stand for federal officers, based on the specious argument that they need protection, it is inevitable that all police, perhaps all jailers, prosecutors and judges, will soon hide their faces and do their government work in secret.

Agents recognize no sanctuary in the Fourth Amendment’s protection against warrantless search and seizure. They demand at gunpoint that you show your papers and lock you up if they find them unsatisfactory. Frimpong’s order describes a U.S. citizen showing a driver’s license — and then being grabbed anyway after an agent demanded to see a passport.

Since when do American citizens have to carry passports?

There is no sanctuary in the 14th Amendment’s promise of equal protection or in generations of civil rights struggles, court rulings and policy updates that supposedly swept away racially disparate treatment. Frimpong’s order describes a stop in which agents let a white person walk away but not a nonwhite person. Border “czar” Tom Homan said recently that ICE agents were free to stop people based on their appearance.

There is no sanctuary in the Sixth Amendment’s right to counsel. The order describes shocking conditions in the basement of the immigration building at 300 N. Los Angeles Street, where captured suspects were so cramped they could not sit or lie down and had no access to lawyers for days.

There is no sanctuary in courthouses, churches, nursing homes or other places where agents grab people without judicial warrants. There is no sanctuary in essential work, such as farm fields, despite President Trump’s statement that perhaps farmworkers and hotel workers might get a break, because after all, farmers would not hire any murderers. He did not explain why the exemption should cover farmworkers but not, say, kitchen workers.

There is no sanctuary, no protection from deportation, even in American citizenship. The Department of Justice is stepping up a program to denaturalize people who were born elsewhere but lawfully go through the citizenship process and take the oath, but who later commit crimes. Such a move creates a second, lesser tier of citizenship, with different standards of conduct and different consequences for the same crimes.

Second-tier citizenship was virtually abolished in American society after a century-long post-slavery struggle for equality. Must we countenance its return?

But there is no sanctuary even in being born here. The administration is moving to end birthright citizenship, which long has been an unassailable cornerstone of American identity and civil rights. Our leaders are threatening to, for the first time in 60 years, award or deny fundamental rights based not on who you are or what you do, but who your parents were and what they did.

So where can sanctuary be found? If not in lines written on the base of the Statue of Liberty, or in the Constitution, or in citizenship or in simple human decency, then where?

Is there sanctuary only in skin color? If you’re white, or perhaps if you’re Black, you may be OK. If you are brown, you’d better carry your passport for the rest of your days, and teach your children to carry theirs too. Stay away from Home Depot. Endure stops and questions. Keep your head down. It is the dream of the white supremacist. It is the achievement of the 2017 Charlottesville rally to “Unite the Right.” It is a state of affairs repugnant to the American creed.

And the only thing, so far, that keeps it from becoming the new American normal is Judge Frimpong’s emergency order.

The government has appealed.

(A Big Change in Life Habits)

Just a few weeks ago we were all going about our normal lives, performing our everyday activities, when, all of a sudden, we were told to stop doing what we were doing and to make extraordinary changes in our life habits. The sources for these dramatic recommendations were the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and every private and public health organization in the United States and elsewhere in the world. Heads of governments in Africa, Asia, Antarctica, Oceania, Europe, North America and South America have been exhorting their respective populations to heed, without delay, the recommendations of medical experts in the field of virology. In a word, they want the entire planet on the same page regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.

Simply put, these recommendations are to maintain a prudent distance from one another in order to minimize the risk of contaminating others or being contaminated by others. Our habits when greeting friends or relatives with a hand shake, hug or kiss will have to be suspended for now and replaced with elbow bumps or some other form of salutation such as the Hindu namaste, which does not require physical contact and means “hello.”

The importance of reducing human contact to a minimum is demonstrated by the fact that major events in sports, entertainment, religion, politics and conventions of all types, etc. have been cancelled or postponed. The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo next July risks postponement or cancellation. Schools at every level, almost world-wide, have been closed for at least one month and some will close for the balance of the school year. Home schooling is now in effect. Public spaces such as restaurants, bars and breweries are closing their doors or limiting their seating to 50 percent of capacity. Major employers have asked their workers whenever possible to perform their duties from home.

The stock market has taken a plunge into depths not seen in a generation; entire economies have been devastated; the revenue lost is in the trillions of dollars. And still the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 around the world continues to increase.

Until such time as an efficient testing mechanism is in place for all symptomatic individuals and until a vaccination is developed to prevent contracting the disease, it is incumbent upon every person to heed the recommendations of medical experts. These actions include staying home as much as possible, maintaining a reasonable arm’s-length distance from others and repetitive hand washing with soap and water or hand sanitizer, especially by young children. Additional advice is not touching your face, especially mouth, eyes or nose and sneezing or coughing into your sleeve or other available cloth.

Following these simple basic habits can mean the difference between contracting Covid-19 and keeping yourself and your family healthy.

(International Women’s Day)

On March 8, 2020, International Women’s Day was celebrated all over the world. In 1975, the United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day in the International Women’s Year, and in l977, the UN General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as the UN International Women’s Day for women’s rights and world peace. Truly a much deserved proclamation.

Harkening back to my childhood, I remember Mother’s ever presence, making sure that the household ran smoothly and not hesitating for a moment the application of discipline whenever needed. In between running an efficient household and doling out punishment, Mother cooked, washed, cleaned and dusted, supervised homework requirements for my siblings and me, organized birthday reunions, took us to church, taught us to share and endless other chores.

Mother taught us that cooking was an art form that needed to be praised much like music, the plastic arts and so many other art forms; that the ingredients that go into making a dish are like the colors in a painting or the notes in a musical composition that should not be under-rated nor taken for granted, but rather be afforded its proper due of appreciation.

We were educated that respect for other persons, without distinction, was an indispensable requirement for peaceful co-existence and we were taught about the value of hard work in all our endeavors. Just like my mom, there are millions of other mothers administering their God-given endowments of love and tolerance within their respective families.

Were it not for our mothers’ perseverance in the education of their offspring with family values, as law abiding citizens, God fearing men and women who love their country, we would surely be living in a world of the strongest over the weakest.

I truly believe that we should acknowledge women’s contributions daily. In addition to making a home for us and being present 24/7, they work offices, as teachers in schools for children of every need, factories, building roads, as fire fighters and police, the armed forces in combat, bankers, fast food clerks and so many other activities that influence our daily living.

All women are deserving of our love, respect and understanding because they are the better half of our societies the world over. Were it not for a women’s sense of compassion, equality, justice and fairness, that is passed on to everyone in their area of influence, including other women, we would surely be living in a vast wasteland. Every affront committed against a woman draws us back into the jungle we have been working to leave behind.

A yearly international commemoration of women is indeed just, imperative and necessary.

(The Enemy from Within)

I pray to my God daily that the American people will see the light and deny the re-election of Donald Trump.

I’m fully aware that many readers will react to the above statement with an automatic “oh no, here we go again” rejection, of a crucial issue that I am firmly convinced, will be the ruination of America with four more years of Trump in the White House.

“Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their nation,” read a slogan during WWI inducing all able-bodied American citizens to sign up for military service to fight against the tyrants of that era. No rallying cry is more appropriate today.

In all my many years, since becoming politically aware, understanding the workings of government, and observing the conduct of Presidents from Roosevelt on forward, with all their failings and incompetents, for which they later repented and apologized, I have never before seen a President who will systematically persist in exhibiting the same failings time and again and refuse to correct them, but rather “double-down” making his errors even greater.

President Trump is a pathological liar, an admitted misogynist, a bully with his subordinates who will tolerate being treated badly to keep their jobs, a man who has admitted sexually harassing women and many other grievous character flaws.

(The Enemy from Within)

In my view, his most deplorable behavior is disuniting the citizens of this great nation, pitting one faction against the other, thereby weakening the intimate fabric of the country, crucially needed to defend against external enemies of which there are many.

All races, Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, need to close ranks to defeat the threat posed by four more years of a Trump Presidency.

Donald Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 but won the electoral college vote due to the political savvy of his handlers, also accompanying him this time around.

According to a recent study, over one million Americans of all extractions did not vote in the last presidential election. If this article motivates citizens in my area of influence to go to the polls this time around and vote for anyone other than Trump, I will feel that the country is once again safe from internal enemies, of which there are also many.

The stakes are high; our freedom is at risk, the long-lasting effects of a Supreme Court crafted by an immoral and unethical President will affect all Americans, even those not yet born.

“Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their nation.”

(Climate Change)

Last week in Davos, Switzerland, representatives of countries from all over the world congregated at the World Economic Forum’s 50th anniversary meeting to evaluate and discuss matters of sustainable development.

Climate experts, business people, and ministers in charge of the economy in their respective countries, talked about their sometimes divergent points of view regarding the unstoppable warming of the planet.

Some scientists believe that nature’s manifestations of chaos whether in the forests, the arctic, deserts, and the oceans are expressions of impending doom if left unchecked.

As proof of these statements, we need to look no further than the on-going wilderness fires in Australia, the continuous melting of the polar ice caps, flooding in low lying areas like Bangladesh as only a few examples.

Many countries that are signatories to the Paris Accord, have agreed to meet certain goals in a specific time frame, in order to reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere, the number one cause of planet warming.

Some governments and businesses disagree with the scientific conclusions that planet warming is a man- made event and prefer to hold with the idea that nature is responsible for this phenomenon that just as it presents itself today will be gone tomorrow.

Overwhelming scientific evidence however, proves otherwise in that every inhabitant and entity on the earth contributes in more or less degree to that which will be the eradication of all life as we know it on the planet today, if not placed under control.

Carbon emissions result from most of our daily activities; cooking, showering, exercising, working, playing, etc., for which we need gas, water, and electricity that are in turn generated by oil and carbon. The more we use of these commodities, the greater is our footprint.

We also contribute to our footprint by consuming products that are packaged in materials such as plastics that after using are discarded into land-fills and into the oceans and other bodies of water thereby further damaging the eco systems.

It seems that there is no end in sight, especially when large corporations and governments refuse to accept the scientific conclusions of some, that global climate warming is a man-made phenomenon that can be reversed by the collective efforts of every human being calling home the planet earth.

If we wait too long to act, if we wait too long to do the simple things within our power to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, we will not be able to reverse the destruction of the planet as we know it today.

(How Good is the US Economy)

U. S. Economy Under Trump: Is it really the greatest in history?

Electing President of the United States and the leaders of our government entrusted with the security, health and welfare of the population is probably the single most important behavior of any citizen of voting age, not to be taken lightly. In the midst of all the hype coming out of Washington and indeed all political circles, it behooves us to take the necessary time to objectively evaluate the candidates and their statements, who wish to be elected or reelected to political office.

The following data provided by the Reality Check Team of the BBC News should partially assist in the required analysis.

“Our economy is the envy of the world. Perhaps the greatest economy we’ve had in the history of our country” Donald Trump

Claim: President Trump often says the US economy is on an historic high, perhaps the greatest it’s ever been.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly this month, he reinforced those claims by talking of how his “pro-growth economic policies” had helped Americans with jobs and wages.

Reality Check verdict: It’s true the economy has been doing well – but there have been periods when it was even stronger.

And the trade war with China, rising tensions in the Middle East and fears over the health of the global economy have unsettled markets recently, and led the US central bank, the Federal Reserve, to lower interest rates.

“Some of the best economic numbers our country has ever experienced are happening right now,” President Trump tweeted earlier this month.

What do the figures show?

For 2019, the data shows a 3.1% growth for the first quarter, but this slowed to 2.1% in the second quarter (which ended in June).

This is significantly less than the 5.5% achieved in the second quarter of 2014 during the Obama presidency.

And if you go further back, there were times in the 1950s and 1960s when GDP growth was even higher.

“If you choose to look at the health of the economy based on GDP, Mr. Trump’s claims are suspect when compared to the national economic boom of the post-War years,” says Megan Black, assistant professor of history at the London School of Economics.

In his speech to the UN General Assembly, President Trump said unemployment was at its lowest for half a century. He also said that in the last three years, six million more Americans were now on the employment roll.

In August this year, the unemployment rate was 3.7%. Fifty years ago in September 1969, the unemployment rate was the same – 3.7%.

But it did drop to 3.5% in November and December 1969 so that’s actually the lowest point for fifty years.

As for the numbers in employment, it’s true that over six million more were recorded as employed in August 2019 compared with August 2016.

Mr. Trump has also highlighted record low levels of unemployment amongst specific groups.

“Last month, African American, Hispanic American and Asian American unemployment reached the lowest levels ever recorded,” he said.

It’s correct that going by data from 1972 onwards, unemployment for African Americans was at a record low in August – at 5.5%.

US official data for Hispanic workers goes back to 1973, and in August this year, unemployment was at 4.2% – that’s also the lowest recorded level.

For Asian Americans, records only go back to 2003. These show the unemployment rate last month was 2.8% – the lowest ever recorded was actually in June this year when it was 2.1%.

In all these groups, unemployment levels had been decreasing throughout the Obama years, after peaking around the time of the 2009 recession.

President Trump also told the UN that “wages are rising, incomes are soaring.”

According to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Average hourly earnings growth did continue throughout 2018 – a generally upward trend which began during President Obama’s administration.

It reached 3.4% in February this year, but then began slowing and is now at 3.23%.

In real terms after inflation is taken into account, wages increased by 1.5% between August 2018 and August 2019, according to official data.

Household income has also been growing – but the rate of increase slowed in the last few years.

In 2018, median household income was $63,179, which official data says is not statistically different from the previous year.

This was reported to be the first year it had barely moved after three years of growth.

The above information should to be carefully studied and compared with the personal experience of each individual voter and seen in the backdrop of many other intervening and influencing factors needed to make a final decision as to what candidate best represents all the citizens and best interests of the country.

(US Influence around the World)

As we begin a new-year, and in view of all the events taking place in the U. S., such as the controversy over immigration, mass shootings, opioid addiction, impeachment of the President, and others just as important, it would seem evident that our image throughout the globe has been negatively affected. Therefore, l thought it would be useful to reflect upon America’s current standing in the world.

According to The Pew Research Center in an article written by Kristen Bialik “America’s global image today is complicated. On balance, people around the world continue to give the United States favorable ratings and say it respects the individual liberties of its people. Nonetheless there are concerns as Ms. Bialik goes on to say that Western Europeans have strikingly negative views of Trump. In the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain there is a clear pattern in public perceptions of U.S. presidents. People in these countries generally had little confidence in President George W. Bush to do the right thing regarding world affairs. Their confidence was much higher in Bush’s successor, President Barack Obama, but it plunged following Trump’s election in 2016.

Views of the U.S. are favorable on balance, but concerns are evident. Across the 25 countries surveyed, a median of 50% have a favorable opinion of the U.S., while 43% have an unfavorable view. Likewise, a median of 51% say the U.S. respects the personal freedoms of its people, compared with 37% who say it does not. However, there is concern about America’s role in world affairs.

The U.S. receives some of its highest favorability ratings in Asia. Meanwhile, half or more in four of the five Asia-Pacific nations polled view the U.S. favorably, including 83% in the Philippines and 80% in South Korea – both among the highest ratings in the study (along with 83% in Israel). In America’s neighboring countries of Canada and Mexico, 39% and 32%, respectively, have a favorable view of the U. S.

Western Europeans now say the U.S. does not respect the individual liberties of its people – a reversal from just a few years ago. Views shifted most notably in France, Germany, Poland, Spain and the UK – five countries that have been surveyed since 2008. Among these countries, more now say the U.S. government does not respect the personal freedoms of its people (a median of 57%) than say it does (40%). As recently as 2013, a median of 76% across these nations said the U.S. does protect individual liberties, while a median of 18% said it does not.

America is seen as the world’s leading economic power. People in the surveyed countries tend to see the U.S. as the world’s leading economic power, though only by a slim margin over China (medians of 39% and 34%, respectively). The U.S. is seen as the top economic power in all three Latin American countries – Brazil, Mexico and Argentina – and in nearly all Asia-Pacific countries surveyed. Europeans are also divided: Those in several countries, including the Netherlands and Germany, choose China, while those in several others, including Hungary and Italy, choose the United States.

Most people prefer America over China as the world’s leading power. While many people believe China currently is the world’s top economic power, a median of 63% across the nations surveyed say having the U.S. as the world’s leading power would be better for the world. In contrast, just 19% say a world in which China was the leading power would be better.

As we start out the new-year it is somewhat comforting to me to know that people around the world in general still give the U. S. a vote of confidence for what it perceives as a country with time tried “individual liberties of its people” and as the world’s top economic power.

(I Resolve for the New Year)

At year’s end, most of us recognize our character flaws, blunders, extra pounds, unhealthy habits, excessive indebtedness, propensity towards bullying the weaker of our acquaintances or family, and in a word, recognize every other personal failing that we admit to ourselves that we need to fix.

In many western countries we take advantage of the new year to adopt resolutions thought to guide us towards goals of character improvement and personal relations that will make us better persons. In order to keep easier track of our progress, we feel that we need to start out with a clean beginning. Therefore, most of us commence our good faith proposals on the first day of the new year.

Missteps in “normal” people in personal relations are usually made only once: we learn from this behavior which negatively affects us, and we vow not to do it again. If we are overweight, which is usually tied to unhealthy habits, resolving to thin down is very hard, especially in our society where food is being advertised at every corner, making it desirable to consume. If you find that you cannot reach your goals alone in this quest, look for help. If you feel you need assistance, you may want to seek out support before you start out the new year. There is nothing better for your purpose in life than to feel mentally that you are on the right course.

Certainly one of life’s experiences that provoke stress and anxiety is to be over-indebted with banks, credit unions, department stores, credit cards, etc., who will, without fail, send out their statements and collection letters when you fall behind. If this is the case, the first thing you may want to consider is to leave your credit cards on file at home. Leaving them home is a deterrent to “impulse buying” and purchasing what you don’t need. Paying off your credit cards during the entire new year without using them will allow you to feel stress-free, knowing that next year you will have either paid off your debts or considerably decreased the balance. Pay cash whenever possible.

Bullying is not only a school yard phenomenon – it is also practiced in the workplace, on the highway, in the shopping mall, standing in line at the supermarket, everyplace where people congregate. Bullying is a learned behavior that can be unlearned by keeping in mind the Golden Rule of “Do unto others as you would have done to you”. Bullying sometimes is a result of impatience that can be mitigated by being reminded of the Golden Rule. Perhaps we should lobby establishments that deal with the public post conspicuously a sign stating the Golden Rule.

Let’s make an effort to build a better place to live, and to work, a better place in which our children can live, study and play safely..a place in which provocations to react violently are ignored;a place where people greet and treat each other with a smile.

Beat wishes to all of us with our new year’s resolutions.
