Every group that was wronged received reparations except African American. Why? Now we want to remedied? Bay the same time many oppose it. Again why? If this nation can give billions away to other nations I see no reason to right a historical wrong. And please don’t say, “blacks had affirmative action.” That is a lie because the group that profited from it was white females and that proven by many studies.

In reply to D. As a Californian taxpaying resident, this is a short fix. It will not solve a long-term issue, which is systemic racism. Instead of giving away lollipops (money), reinvest them into something that could guarantee incomes to them and develop a revenue for state of California. For instance, you could give away 20% down for homeowner payments for them because they will have to pay property taxes, which return to State of California. This kind of eco-system will work successfully. If we give them cash, its no guarantee that they will return to the State. We are then even deeper in debts. We also have to take accounts of other racial groups that also suffered deep level of racial discriminations and slavery.

It’s a fact that black citizens have been suppressed. It’s not important whether by bigotry or ignorance, or accident.
I paid a price for being a white male throughout the Affirmative Action experiment. My career in government was derailed because of it. My only source of bitterness is that it was a failed experiment.
The black community would be better served with free education, quality healthcare, tax deductions and more importantly, mentorship. Guidance. A picture of the opportunity that’s available to them.
The United States didn’t have slavery, the Confederacy did. The United States defeated them with a tremendous sacrifice. My ancestors fought for the North.
Give the gift of knowledge and hope. It’s the same as gifting fish, or teaching one to fish.
