The extremists at both ends exploit our freedoms and apathy with impunity.
It needs to be a requirement that to run for any public office ALL of the candidate’s background info and backers be disclosed BEFORE papers even be considered for processing, let alone the name be placed on the ballot.
There will always be liars and those who seek to mislead for their own ends; but public policy shouldn’t make it easy for them to do so. There are no nonpartisan offices anymore; school boards no longer seem to care about student preparation for a diverse world.
We don’t have to agree with everything, but we must learn from what we experience, so we can change the channel if we don’t like the show.

The students, especially at the high school level, have the right to learn whatever appropriate literature and social studies historical concepts that teachers are willing to teach.

Harvey Milk, considering today’s issues in population, is now a historical figure. He was killed in like 1974. These students are demanding answers. They want their questions answered.

In 1994, we students at Highland High School in Palmdale California, as Juniors, got a pretty clear history and explanation of the Vietnam War by Sandy Schultz, et al..We were told in more ways than one to ask no one questions that even our parents couldn’t explain.
