On Saturday June 12th, the Historic Hemet Theatre hosted its first show in 15 months. Concert fans were thrilled to come out for the Tribute to Bruno Mars, featuring Bruno and the Hooligans. The show sold out just a few hours before showtime.

Even will reduced capacity, the crowd was buzzing with excitement. From the first song, the dance floor filled – just like in the days before Covid sent everyone into isolation — Except for this show, dancers all has wrist band showing that they had been vaccinated.

It was also the first show since the passing of Operations Director Bryan Carrier. A portrait of Bryan and his wife Susan has been added to the sound room at the top of the auditorium. The painting was done by Dan Melendez, the same artist that painted the wall murals in the lobby of the theatre. During intermission, volunteers presented Susan with a custom guitar featuring photos of Bryan and logos of the theatre. The guitar was created by LocoLady Guitar, who creates custom guitars as raffle prizes for the tribute shows at HHT.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Tribute to Elton John on Saturday June 26th are already gone. Several other shows in the season will sell out in the next couple of weeks.

Tickets for Tribute Mania are $25, general admission. Showtime is 7:00 pm, with doors open at 6:15 pm.

On Saturday June 12th, the band will return as the first concert of the reopened theatre, but things are not quite back to normal. Attendance will be limited, with socially distanced seating in areas of the auditorium. And the dance floor will be restricted to patrons with a vaccine card or proof of a recent negative test. Still, the room will be electric, with fans releasing the pent-up energy of 15 months of isolation.

Bruno and the Hooligans is an amazing tribute band with a high-stepping male vocalist, and the look, sound and moves of Bruno Mars. The show replicates the exciting mix of Funk and R&B that is uniquely Bruno Mars.

Bruno Mars is an award-winning singer/songwriter who has became famous for his stage performances and retro showmanship. His top hits include “Uptown Funk,” “Nothin’ on You,” “Billionaire,” “Just the Way You Are,” “Grenade,” and the “Lazy Song.” He has released seven number-one singles since his career launch in 2010, attaining five top hits faster than any male artist since Elvis Presley. With over 130 million records sold, he has already become one of the best-selling artists of all time.

This week, HHT announced the schedule for a 12-concert season stretching from June thru October.

The season starts on June 12th with a Tribute to Bruno Mars performed by Bruno and the Hooligans. This show was one of the most popular shows in 2019, but the Covid shutdown blocked their encore performance in June 2020. In fact, the entire 2021 season is filled with shows that sold out in their last appearance at HHT.

Over 1,000 tickets for 2020 shows remain outstanding and are eligible for exchange for the new season. Patrons holding tickets for last year’s shows need to exchange them at the ticket office during normal business hours, Monday thru Friday, 11 am to 5 pm.

This year, ticket prices have increased to $25, to help the theatre manage additional expenses for safety and sanitation protocols. The increase does not apply to exchanged tickets. The theatre will again offer special Season Tickets with the purchase of 4 or more concerts in the season. Season Ticket holders are given VIP seating 15 minutes before general admission.

The theatre will be utilizing special Covid restrictions, including limiting use of the dance floor to patrons with wrist bands indicating that they have presented a vaccine card at the door. Masks will be required in the lobby and aisles, but not required when seated. Tickets will be limited to 50% of capacity for at least the month of June.
