“We are so excited to have you here today as we celebrate the joy of the season with our Preschool Winter Performances,” she said. “This is a special time for our children to share what they’ve been learning and to showcase their creativity, confidence, and hard work.”

The children also got a surprise visit from Santa Claus and The Grinch after they finished their performances. They mingled and then got to have a photo taken with Santa.

Mojado also thanked the families for their continued support and encouragement stating that it truly makes a difference in the child’s learning journey. She also gave a big thank you to the amazing teachers and staff for their dedication and for making this event possible.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. The annual celebration of Juneteenth holds great significance in American history, marking the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached enslaved African Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865, two years after it was initially issued.

BVOV’s Juneteenth Celebration aims to honor this important day by bringing the community together in a spirit of unity and joy. The event will feature a variety of activities for all ages, including information booths, retail vendors, food vendors, a kids’ zone, a beer garden, games, prizes, live music, and a DJ spinning tunes throughout the day.

Stephanie Bruce, founder and Executive Director of BVOV, said last year’s inaugural event drew a large turnout and overwhelming support from the community. This year, organizers are expecting an even greater attendance as they continue to celebrate the rich history and culture of Juneteenth.

The family-friendly day of fun, fellowship and celebration is open to all.
