Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Jeremy Bracey

File# PE232940088

Details:

On October 21, 2023, about 6:44 p.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station, responded to the intersection of Evans Road and Whispering Wood Lane, Perris, regarding a report of a major injury traffic collision. Deputies arrived on scene and located the driver of a 2020 Honda Fit unresponsive inside the vehicle. The driver sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene by Cal-Fire personnel. The second vehicle involved, a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder, was located north of the collision along Evans Road with major front end damage. The driver of the Nissan fled the scene.

The Perris Station Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed the Honda was stopped at the stop sign on westbound Whispering Wood Lane preparing to turn south onto Evans Road. As the Honda proceeded to make the turn, the Nissan traveling northbound on Evans Road failed to stop at the stop sign and the two vehicles collided in the intersection. The driver of the Nissan fled on foot immediately after the collision, and has not been located. This investigation is ongoing.

The identity of the deceased will not be released pending further investigation and notification to the next of kin. A temporary road closure of Evans Road between Ramona Expressway and Morgan Street was required in order to process the scene and collect evidence.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Jess Kiebach of the Perris Sheriff’s Station at 951–210–1000 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office at 951–776–1099.

A Victorville woman was arrested for a hit and run collision that killed a Hemet woman and seriously injured a Hemet man.

On Sunday, July 25, 2021, at around 8:03 p.m., the Huntington Beach Police Department responded to a traffic collision in the northbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway near Newland Avenue. The reporting parties stated that a Nissan Altima had struck two pedestrians and fled the scene. Whe

n officers arrived they found the two pedestrians in the roadway. Deanna Stuve, 48, of Hemet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Frederick Stuve, 50, also from Hemet was seriously injured and rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Through investigation, including the information provided by multiple witnesses and video surveillance officers learned that a female driver, later identified as Chillandra Dalanalea Bell, 26, of Victorville, and female passenger drove a short distance from the scene of the collision and abandoned the vehicle along the roadway. The two got into a waiting white sedan that left the scene.

The getaway vehicle was identified and traced to a Huntington Beach home where officers conducted surveillance. Bell was arrested as she was leaving the home. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. Authorities said that it is believed that the Altama was driving northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when it ran a red light striking the two pedestrians who were crossing Pacific Coast Highway at Newland Avenue in the crosswalk.

Bell was booked into the Huntington Beach Police Department jail for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit and run resulting in death or injury and additional charges. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. The driver of the getaway vehicle is still unknown but the identity remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, a family is mourning the death of Deanna Stuve, a 4th-grade teacher at Cawston Elementary School in the City of Hemet and are praying for the recovery of her husband, Frederick (Rick) Stuve. Fredrick’s cousin, Sarah Lindsey, started a Go Fund Me account on behalf of the family in order to assist with funeral expenses for Deanna and any expenses associated with Fredrick’s medical expenses and recovery. “Ricky and Deanna created a beautiful life together with their two daughters,” wrote Lindsey on the Go Fund Me page. “Their marriage was beautiful and inspiring. Deanna was an elementary school teacher who loved her students. But more than anything, she was a mom who loved her daughters more than life itself. Deanna was a beautiful light in this world, and she will be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.”

The collision investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it is encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator D. Demetre at (714) 536-5670, or Investigator V. Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5663.

: Jayda Sanchez was killed in a crash on Friday, and the driver is still at large: ‘Please come clean’

A California family is mourning the loss of their 4-year-old daughter, who was killed in a deadly car crash on Friday — and they’re offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver they say is responsible.

The crash happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. last Friday evening. According to the Los Angeles Times, Robert Sanchez was driving on Normandie Avenue in Harbor City, Calif. According to the LAPD, another driver made an illegal U-turn in front of Sanchez.

Police say that Sanchez swerved to avoid a collision, which caused his pickup truck to flip over. It hit a light pole. According to KTLA-TV, the driver of the other vehicle never stopped.

Sanchez and his 5-year-old son, Robbie, survived the crash but have been hospitalized with serious injuries. His 4-year-old daughter, Jayda, was killed instantly by the impact.

Authorities tell CBS-TV Channel 2 that the driver who made the illegal u-turn did not collide with Sanchez. They still consider the case a hit-and-run because the other driver’s illegal U-turn led to the deadly crash, and they did not stay at the scene to help.

The other driver has not been identified, and police have been unable to give a description of the vehicle. While police investigate the case, Jayda’s family is inconsolable. Jayda’s older sister, Jaylin Medina, tells CBS-TV that Jayda “loved to paint her nails, play with dolls and play with her cousins.”

Jayda’s mother is begging that the other driver come forward.

“Whoever did this, please come clean, turn yourself in,” she told CBS-TV. “You took a poor innocent baby.” The Sanchez family has created a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department tip line at 877-527-3247.
