<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 7:00 a.m., the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force, with the assistance of Riverside County Gang Task Force Region 2 and Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, served a search warrant at a residence located in the 66000 block of Desert View Avenue in Desert Hot Springs. The search warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation involving illegally possessed firearms. Gang Task Force Officers recovered six 9mm semi-auto handguns, eight .45 caliber semi-auto handguns, one .40 caliber semi-auto handgun, two .38 caliber semi-auto handguns, one 10mm semi-auto handgun, one .22 caliber semi-auto handgun, and one .556 semi-auto AR-15 rifle. They arrested Ramon Higuera Jr., 26, of Desert Hot Springs, for distributing firearms to a Felon, possessing an unregistered handgun, and transferring firearms without a Federal Firearms License (FFL). Higuera Jr. was booked at John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 6:00 a.m. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force with the assistance of Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Bureau, United States Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC), Riverside County Gang Task Force Region 3, Region 4 and Region 7, Riverside County Sheriff’s Thermal Station Special Investigations Unit, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, California Highway Patrol K9 Team and Riverside County PACT, served search warrants at three residences in the eastern Coachella Valley. Task Force Officers executed search warrants at residences located in the 84000 block of Lingayan Avenue in the unincorporated community of Indio, the 80000 block of Avenue 46 in the city of Indio and the 80000 block of Columbia Avenue in the city of Indio. During the service of the search warrants Gang Task Force Officers located four illegally possessed firearms including a loaded non-serialized 9mm semi-auto handgun with extended magazine, a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with extended magazine, a .44 caliber revolver style pistol, and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic rifle. The following subjects were arrested during the operation:</p>

<li>Gustavo Miranda Madera, 23 of Indio for possession of unregistered firearm and possession of non-serialized firearm</li>



<li>Julian Perez Morgan, 22 of Indio for felon in possession of ammunition</li>



<li>Diego Perez Morgan, 18 of Indio for possession of unregistered loaded firearm, gang member with a firearm and gang member with ammunition</li>



<li>Damion Albert Perez, 25 of Indio for gang member with a firearm and gang member with ammunition</li>



<li>Albert Perez, 53 of Indio for possession of unregistered Firearm</li>



<li>All of the above listed subjects were subsequently booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Thursday, February 16th, 2023, at 8:00 A.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted an operation aimed at combating gang violence in the Coachella Valley. Assisting with the operation were Riverside County Gang Task Force Region 2, Region 3, Region 4, Region 6, East P.A.C.T., Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, Indian Wells Special Enforcement Team, California Highway Patrol K9 Team, and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Air Operations.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During the operation the following subjects were arrested:</p>

<li>Andrew Evans, 22 of Thousand Palms: Outstanding Arrest Warrant for Felony DUI and Felony Evading, Violation of Probation.</li>



<li>Anthony Napoles, 38 of Desert Hot Springs: Outstanding Arrest Warrants for Vehicle Theft, Resisting Arrest, Receiving Stolen Property.</li>



<li>Adan Rodriguez, 51 of Desert Hot Springs: Possession of Methamphetamine, Violation of Probation.</li>



<li>Eric Quinones, 26 of Desert Hot Springs: Felon in Possession of Firearm.</li>



<li>Tiffany Goehner, 28 of Desert Hot Springs: Felon in Possession of Firearm.</li>



<li>Vicente Sanchez, 35 of Sky Valley: Outstanding Arrest Warrant for Possession of Narcotics.</li>



<li>Joseph Berry, 35 of Desert Hot Springs: Violation of Parole.</li>



<li>Alberto Barerra, 40 of Thousand Palms: Possession of Methamphetamine.</li>



<li>Mayra Sigala, 32 of Desert Hot Springs: Outstanding Arrest Warrants for Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Controlled Substance While Armed.</li>



<li>Jesus Ortiz, 45 of Mecca: Outstanding Arrest Warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine.</li>



<li>Hugo Rodriguez, 50 of Indio: Outstanding Arrest Warrant for Under the Influence of Controlled Substance.</li>



<li>Bianca Gallegos, 23 of Desert Hot Springs: Outstanding Arrest Warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance.</li>



<li>Jonathan Berry, 39 of Desert Hot Springs: Felon in Possession of Firearm.</li>



<li>Daniel Aguirre, 39 of Cathedral City: Felon in Possession of Ammunition.</li>



<li>Amado Cota, 20 of Cathedral City: &nbsp;Carry Concealed Firearm.</li>



<li>17-year-old juvenile of Cathedral City: Carry Concealed Firearm, Minor in Possession of Ammunition.</li>
</ul>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Multiple illegally possessed weapons were collected during the operation including 5 firearms. All adult subjects were booked at John Benoit Detention Center in Indio. The juvenile was booked at Juvenile Hall in Indio.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Friday, November 4, 2022, at 2:30 PM, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force served a search warrant at two residences, one in the 51000 block of Tyler Street in Coachella and the other in the 45000 block of Senegal Place in Indio. During the service of the search warrant, Gang Task Force officers located approximately 62 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, as well as evidence indicative of narcotics sales. Also located, were two .45 caliber semi-automatic handguns and a .223 caliber short barrel rifle. Gang Task Force officers arrested Juan Gasca Nava, a 23-year-old resident of Coachella, for Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, Possession of a Short Barrel Rifle, Possession of an Assault Rifle, and Possession of an Unregistered Loaded Firearm. Nava was subsequently booked at <a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/708/John-J-Benoit-Detention-Center">John Benoit Detention Center</a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 9:00 A.M., the Riverside County Region Gang Task Force – Region 2 conducted a parole and probation compliance operation consisting of compliance checks at various locations within the Calimesa, Beaumont, Banning and Cabazon areas. <ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Alexander Ramirez, 19 of Beaumont, for firearms related charges and a felony warrant</li><li>Robert Ramirez, 21 of Beaumont, for possession of a controlled substance</li><li>Arturo Navarro Jr, 37 of Beaumont, for possession of a controlled substance</li><li>Michael Ketcham, 19 of Cabazon, for being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition</li><li>Yoatzin Hernandez, 26 of Banning, for violation of probation</li><li>Katherine Ellison, 26 of Banning, for violation of probation</li><li>Demarco Jackson, 36 of Banning, for being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition</li><li>Dustin McGill, 28 of Cabazon, for being a felon in possession of a prohibited weapon</li></ul>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The increased amount of law enforcement officers during this operation also aided in the apprehension of Samantha Escobedo, 22 of Banning, who was arrested for the following charges: Mayhem, Assault with a deadly weapon, Possession of metal knuckles, Burglary, and Conspiracy.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Riverside County Gang Task Force is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs.  The San Gorgonio Special Operations Regional Gang Task Force is one of six teams which make up the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force.  The San Gorgonio Special Operations Gang Task Force is staffed with members from the Banning Police Department, Beaumont Police Department and <a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/">Riverside County Sheriff’s Department</a>.</p>
