On Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 5:30 p.m., deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team (SET) responded to the 1700 block of Production Circle regarding a disturbance. Upon deputies’ arrival, numerous subjects attempted to flee, but several were detained. Jurupa Valley SET deputies located evidence of an illegal/unlicensed marijuana dispensary and secured the location. Jurupa Valley SET deputies obtained a search warrant for the property and requested assistance from the Riverside Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET).

During the service of the search warrant, deputies located approximately 115 pounds of processed marijuana, 10 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, 100 pounds of marijuana concentrate, 2,400 marijuana vapes, and 1,200 edible marijuana items. The estimated value of the seized items was determined to be over $1,000,000.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Jurupa Valley Station SET is asking anyone with additional information on this case to contact Deputy Butler at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station by calling (951) 955–2600.

The blaze was reported at about 4:30 a.m. on San Timoteo Canyon Road in Redlands, east of Los Angeles. Firefighters needed about an hour to douse the flames and they discovered the marijuana operation, police said.

The blaze apparently started in a living section of an outbuilding that was gutted and a second outbuilding was damaged, police said.

Marijuana plants were found in the second building and thousands more were in a third building that wasn’t damaged, police said.

Police photos showed rows of plants in containers inside a building that appeared to have a sophisticated growing system.

Investigators seized the plants and 83 pounds of harvested product, all of which will be destroyed, police said.

A dog found at the site had minor burns and was turned over to animal control officers, police said.

According to the release of information, the Moreno Valley Sheriff Station’s ‘Problem Oriented Police Team’ initiated an investigation into an illegal indoor marijuana cultivation operation.

On October 27, 2021, at 7:00 in the morning, the Moreno Valley Station’s Special Teams, along with Jurupa Valley Station’s Special Teams, simultaneously served search warrants at residences in the cities of Moreno Valley, Eastvale, and Ontario.

During the service of the warrants, approximately 1,200 marijuana plants, 400lbs of processed marijuana, and $59,000 in cash were located.

It is not clear from the release if all three of the residences were related to one or multiple suspects.

A suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Miaopan Chen, a 33-year-old resident of Ontario, was arrested for marijuana cultivation.

She was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center. Chen was charged and cited for misdemeanor marijuana cultivation.

Miaopan Chen is listed at the county jail in Riverside- Robert Presley Detention Center. She is described as Asian, approximately 5 ft. 2 inches, with black hair and brown eyes.

According to the ‘JIM’S inmate information system, Chen is 33 years-old and was processed on 10/27/2021. According to ‘JIMS’, her next court date is 01/03/2022, at 07:30 in the morning. She is scheduled to appear at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

On July 8, 2020, deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Stations Problem Oriented Policing Team received information regarding  possible illegal marijuana cultivation occurring in the unincorporated area of Riverside County, in the area known as Horsethief Canyon.  Deputies were advised of an odor of marijuana coming from a residence.  After further investigation it was believed there was an illegal marijuana cultivation site at the location.  

On July 8, 2020, at the direction of Sheriff Chad Bianco, deputies served a search warrant at a residence on Coyote Mesa Drive, in the unincorporated area of Riverside County, in the area known as Horsethief Canyon.  The residence was transformed using common building materials into an illegal marijuana cultivation site.  Approximately 430 marijuana plants in various stages of growth were located inside the residence. The electrical system within the residence was illegally altered causing a severe fire hazard.  Southern California Edison Company responded to the residence and turned the power off due to the illegal wiring throughout the residence.  Riverside County Code Enforcement responded and determined the residence was uninhabitable.
