Deputies found that George Ortiz, 62, of Corona was experiencing an unspecified medical emergency inside his cell Wednesday when custody staff and jail medical personnel immediately conducted livesaving measures until paramedics arrived a short time later. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators from the sheriff’s department and the Riverside County coroner’s bureau assumed the investigation. Authorities determined that there were no signs of foul play.

An investigation into the death of Stephen Alan Frost of Riverside was continuing Monday, though the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said there were no signs of foul play.

Frost was being held in cell #80 on the fifth floor of the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. When he was found unresponsive in his cell Sunday, jail medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the efforts were unsuccessful, according to the sheriff’s department.

The coroner will determine Frost’s manner and cause of death.

Frost was arrested at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, on Main Street in Riverside, according to jail records. He was booked on suspicion of public intoxication and obstruction of a first responder — both misdemeanors. Frost also had an outstanding out-of-county warrant. He was being held in custody without bail.
