In a court brief filed Wednesday, Deputy Dist. Atty. Beth Silverman alleged that David Anthony Burke, who performs as D4vd, had covered up his lengthy sexual abuse of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, lured her to his Hollywood rental mansion, stabbed her and let her bleed to death, and then used “a chainsaw and perhaps other tools” to cut up her body and remove two of her fingers to destroy a tattoo linking him to her.

Burke, 21, is charged with murder, continuous sex abuse of a minor and mutilating a corpse. Prosecutors say he killed Hernandez because she threatened to expose his abuse and ruin his music career. Prosecutors say Burke bought a shovel, two chainsaws, a body bag, heavy-duty laundry bags, a “burn box”, and a blue inflatable pool as part of a scheme to dispose of her body.

“There are no words to express the indescribable pain the family is experiencing right now,” said attorney Patrick Steinfeld on behalf of the family. “They still have bills to pay and jobs they go to every day. All they want is time to grieve and heal.”

He said that informing the family of the gruesome details was the most difficult thing he’s done in his 37-year law career.

“I originally encouraged the Rivas Hernandez family to speak publicly throughout the criminal process. They agreed with the full support of Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman. However, in light of the gruesome details emerging almost daily, the family has decided not to make any statements now or in the future,” he added.

Prosecutors’ nine-page brief detailed an abusive relationship between the singer and the girl that allegedly started when she was just 11 and ended with her slaying in April 2025. In the days after Hernandez’s death, Burke used an inflatable pool to contain Hernandez’s body as the singer dismembered her remains in the garage, according to a brief prosecutors prepared for Burke’s preliminary hearing, at which they will make their case to a judge that there’s enough evidence for Burke to stand trial. Bits of plastic from the pool were discovered embedded in Hernandez’s remains, the document said.

Hernandez’s badly decomposed body was found in the trunk of Burke’s Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard in September. Authorities said Hernandez was last seen at Burke’s Hollywood residence on April 23, 2025. The two got into a “lengthy argument” the night before, with Hernandez expressing jealousy over Burke’s relationships with other women and “threatened to disclose damaging information about her relationship with defendant to end his career and destroy his life,” Silverman wrote.

On the night police believe Hernandez was killed, according to the court filing, the singer ordered an Uber to bring her from her Lake Elsinore home to Hollywood around 8:40 p.m.

An autopsy report made public last week revealed Hernandez died from a pair of stab wounds. Prosecutors allege that Burke cut off two of Hernandez’s fingers to remove evidence of a tattoo Hernandez had gotten of the singer’s name.

Hernandez was reported missing by her family multiple times in Lake Elsinore in 2024. Riverside County sheriff’s investigators questioned Burke about her whereabouts in February 2024, but Burke claimed he was “unaware she was a minor or that she had been reported missing,” Silverman wrote.

Two days later, she returned home and her parents took away her cellphone. But Burke allegedly drove to Lake Elsinore and paid a junior high school student $1,000 to give her a new phone so they could stay in touch, according to the document filed Wednesday. Over the next year, Hernandez traveled with the singer to Las Vegas, Texas and London where she met “his family,” Silverman wrote.

Burke’s lead defense attorney, Blair Berk, has not responded to the new filing or returned a request for comment. She has insisted her client did not kill the teen. A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for May 26.

Brooklyn Spencer has not been seen since 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Her last known location was at Fall Classic and Outfield, near Diamond Drive, according to the CHP, which issued the alert on behalf of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Spencer is Black, 5 foot, 7 inches tall and 200 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black-and-brown strapless dress.

Authorities believe she may be traveling on foot.

Anyone with additional information on her whereabouts was asked to call 911.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Investigation Bureau opened the investigation on Oct. 9 after receiving information that 25-year-old Deputy Dakota Robson was in possession of a stolen vehicle, the department said.

Robson was arrested in Lake Elsinore that day and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and unauthorized computer access.

He was released Oct. 10 on $10,000 bail and is expected to appear in court Nov. 21 at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center.

Robson began his employment with the sheriff’s department in June 2023 and had recently been assigned to the sheriff’s Southwest station. He was placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation, the department announced.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the body as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, PEOPLE can confirm. Her date of death is listed as Sept. 8 and cause of death is “deferred,” which means it is pending additional investigation.

According to NBC News, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a statement that Rivas is the “juvenile who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore” last year.

“The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating this incident as a homicide and will be the point of contact for any further details regarding this investigation,” the statement added, per the outlet.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department made the discovery around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 after receiving a report of a foul odor from what appeared to be human remains coming from a vehicle on N. Mansfield Avenue, PEOPLE previously reported.

According KABC-TV, authorities said the body was found in the Tesla’s front trunk and had been wrapped inside a bag. The outlet also reported that the car is registered in Hempstead, Texas to d4vd, 20, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.

According to FOX 11 Los Angeles, authorities believe the body was put in the trunk about five days before it was towed to the impound lot.

The car was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and neighbors told NBC Los Angeles it had been there for about a month.

After the news of the discovery was made public, a rep for the singer told the outlet, “d4vd has been informed about what’s happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”

Police have not identified any suspects or filed charges in the case. Further details about Rivas and whether she had a connection to the singer have not been shared by authorities.

d4vd, who earned acclaim (and BMI Pop Awards) for hits like “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” released his debut album Withered  in April 2025.

He is currently in the midst of his world tour supporting the project and is set to perform in San Francisco on Friday, Sept. 19, before playing a show in Los Angeles the following day.

Riverside County voters cast their ballots on Tuesday.

Although Johnson, a Republican, is short of the majority required to avoid a runoff, she leads over Democratic challenger Chris Shoults by 1,300 votes, unofficial results show.

The two candidates are vying for a seat that represents a wide swath of the county, left empty this spring when President Donald Trump appointed Assemblymember Bill Essayli to serve as U.S. Attorney.

In late May, tens of thousands of vote-by-mail ballots made their way to voters ahead of the June 24 Special Primary Election. If no one gets a majority of the vote by the time the results are certified on July 3, Johnson and Shoults will face off in an Aug. 26 runoff.

The new 63rd District assemblymember will represent Norco, Menifee, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake as well as parts of Eastvale, Riverside and Corona.

Early returns show that candidates Vincent Romo, a Republican, garnered 8.4 percent of the votes (4,872), while Zachary Consalvo, a libertarian, grabbed 1.3 percent of the votes (753).

Johnson, who announced her candidacy on April 3, pledged to bring “common sense” back to Sacramento. The Republican has already received an endorsement from Essayli and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, who is running for governor in 2026.

“I’ve selected Natasha because I know that she is a fighter and she will carry on my message and the battles that we’ve had in Sacramento whether that’s on public safety or parental rights,” Essayli said.

“What an honor to continue to serve and keep the charge going for Assemblyman Essayli,” she said.

Meanwhile, Shoults has emphasized his focus on lowering the cost of living, education reform and economic diversity.

“No more self-serving political agendas and partisan games,” Shoults said in a statement. “It’s time for real leadership and representation that puts people first.”

On Saturday morning, just after 1:15 a.m., the 21-year-old was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer at an unknown speed eastbound on State Route 74 just west of Grand Avenue in the Lake Elsinore area. For unknown reasons, the vehicle veered to the right, leaving the roadway and crashing into a tree.

According to the family, a memorial service was planned for May 17. The fundraiser has raised $6,500 to date.

“Any contribution, big or small, would mean so much to our family as we try to honor his memory and give him the farewell he deserves,” Romero said. “Thank you for all the love, support, kindness, and comfort during this difficult time.”

The crash happened around 1:15 a.m. Saturday on eastbound state Route 74 just west of Grand Avenue in the Lake Elsinore area, authorities said.

Investigators found that the 21-year-old was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer at an unknown speed when the vehicle veered to the right, leaving the roadway and crashing into a tree.

The crash caused the vehicle to overturn on its roof, and the driver, who was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected out of the driver-side window. According to the CHP, the vehicle rolled over onto the driver, causing fatal injuries.

The driver was later identified as Isaac Romero of Lake Elsinore.

Investigators believe alcohol impairment was a factor in the crash, authorities said.

A Murrieta jury deliberated less than a day before finding Martin Ancamil guilty of four counts of lewd acts on a minor, three counts of sexual penetration by force or fear, two counts of assault with intent to commit mayhem and one count of forced oral copulation of a child. Jurors acquitted him of four related charges.

The panel went behind closed doors briefly late Monday afternoon following closing arguments in the weeklong trial at the Southwest Justice Center. The jury returned with verdicts early Tuesday afternoon.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Johnnetta Anderson scheduled a sentencing hearing for April 11.

The defendant is being held without bail at the Byrd Detention Center.

According to a sheriff’s bail-setting declaration filed soon after Ancamil was taken into custody, the victim, identified in court documents only as “M.L.,” informed her family and others in early July 2023 that the defendant had sexually abused her beginning when she was 9 years old. At the time of the revelation she was 14.

Sheriff’s investigators were immediately alerted.

Court records said the series of assaults occurred from November 2017 to June 2023.

In one encounter, “Martin Ancamil put his hand under the girl’s pants and underwear,” the affidavit said.

“The victim woke up to Ancamil touching her (privates) underneath her clothing, and his hand was cold, and it hurt her,” the document stated.

M.L. also said the defendant penetrated her, though not enough to cause injuries, according to the declaration.

“Ancamil is a native of Argentina, lives in his car, has no friends or family here and has an expired (work) visa,” the affidavit said.

According to sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Reese, deputies tracked him to Cambern Avenue in Lake Elsinore, where he was taken into custody without incident on July 10, 2023.

His specific connection to the victim was not disclosed, and authorities couldn’t confirm how long he had overstayed his visa, remaining in the country illegally.

He has no documented prior felony or misdemeanor convictions in Riverside County.
