LAKE ELSINORE, CA — One person was killed Thursday morning in Lake Elsinore after a single car crashed into a telephone pole on Lake Street, officials say.

Just after 6 a.m., emergency responders arrived at the scene in the 29000 block of Lake Street to find a vehicle had collided with a telephone pole. The sole occupant perished at the scene, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was investigating the cause of the crash, and the coroner’s office has withheld the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
