<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On April 14, 2023, <a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/616/Thermal-Station">the Thermal Station</a> Special Investigations Unit conducted a weapons related investigation. The investigation led to the 50000 block of Kenmore Street, in the city of Coachella. A search warrant was served at a residence in the area. During the search warrant service, William Flores, 21-year-old of Coachella, a documented criminal street gang member and Lilyana Tapia, 21-year-old of Coachella were taken into custody without incident. Flores was found to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic firearm, that was unregistered.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">William Flores was booked at the John Benoit Detention center for felon in possession of a loaded firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, violation of probation and a felony warrant for felon in possession of a firearm.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lilyana Tapia was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for possession of a loaded firearm and possession of an unregistered firearm.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Thermal Station Investigations Special Investigations Unit is asking anyone with additional information to contact Deputy Piscatella at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station by calling (760) 863-8107.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 2:21 PM, members of the Riverside County Gang Task Force Region 6 Perris / Lake Elsinore conducted a traffic stop in the 22000 block of San Jacinto Avenue, in the city of Perris. Deputies contacted, Saul Flores, a 19-year-old resident of Perris. Deputies discovered Flores was a convicted felon and operating his vehicle without a driver’s license. A subsequent search of Flores’s vehicle, revealed a loaded 9mm caliber semi-automatic handgun.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Flores was taken into custody and charged with a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and concealing a firearm within a vehicle. Flores was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On January 17, 2023, at 12:30 PM, deputies from<a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/743/Lake-Elsinore-Station"> the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station</a> responded to the 31500 block of Canyon Estates Drive in Lake Elsinore reference a fight. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the subjects involved in the fight were still at the location. Deputies contacted Brandon Lee (age 34) a resident of Gardena, and Jonathan Mangrum (age 31) a resident of Lake Elsinore.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While speaking with both Mangrum and Lee, deputies saw a large amount of narcotics inside the room, which led to a search warrant. As a result, several loaded firearms, and additional items associated with the sales of narcotics were located.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Both Lee and Mangrum were booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center and charged with possession of narcotics for sales and possession of loaded firearms.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Deputy Howe or Deputy Stacey at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at (951) 245-3300.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a reminder, &#8220;Community Policing&#8221; involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members.  Business owners and residents are encouraged to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff&#8217;s Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Friday, December 9, 2022, at 1:00 PM, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CBBCGTF) conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of a documented criminal street gang member who was in possession of a loaded firearm. Convicted felon, Joshua Daniel Beltran Macias, was arrested during a traffic enforcement stop at the intersection of San Gabriel Circle and San Luis Rey Drive in Cathedral City. Gang Task Force Officers located a loaded unregistered .40 caliber semi-auto handgun in Beltran Macias’ possession. Beltran Macias was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Violation of Probation. He was subsequently booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 5:30 PM, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF) conducted a probation compliance search at a residence located near the 30000 block of Avenida Juarez in Cathedral City. During the search, Gang Task Force officers located a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic Glock handgun. As a result, Gang Task Force officers arrested convicted felon and documented criminal street gang member, Hector Diaz, a 19-year-old resident of Cathedral City for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Gang Member in Possession of a Firearm, Violation of Probation, and Child Endangerment. Diaz was subsequently booked at the John Benoit Detention Center.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 1:05 P.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (GVVCGTF) conducted suppression patrol in the city of Cathedral City. During the patrol, Gang Task Force Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Date Palm Drive and Tortuga Road in Cathedral City. During the stop, Gang Task Force Officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, Mohammad Ali Mir, a 49-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs and Andrew Gamboa, a 32-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs. Gang Task Force Officers learned Mir was on active state parole and conducted a parole compliance search of the vehicle. During the search, they located a loaded 9mm handgun without any identifying serial numbers (commonly referred to as a “Ghost Gun”). Additionally, they located suspected methamphetamine and evidence indicative of narcotics sales. Both Mir and Gamboa were arrested at the scene. Mir was charged with Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, Possession of a Loaded Firearm with Narcotics and Violation of Parole. Gamboa was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Committing a Felony While on Bail, and Driving While Addicted to Drugs. Mir and Gamboa were subsequently booked at <a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/708/John-J-Benoit-Detention-Center">John Benoit Detention Center</a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted a probation compliance search at a residence located in the 13000 block of Nahum Drive in Desert Hot Springs. During the compliance search Gang Task Force Officers located a loaded .357 revolver with an obliterated serial number. Gang Task Force Officers arrested convicted felon and documented criminal street gang member, Sean Hatley, a 45-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number. Hatley was subsequently booked at <a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/708/John-J-Benoit-Detention-Center">John Benoit Detention Center</a> in Indio.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On January 19, 2022 members of the Murrieta/Temecula Regional Gang Task Force (GTF) participated in a day long probation compliance check operation coordinated by the Riverside County Central PACT Team (Post-release Accountability and Compliance Team). The operation took place in the City of Temecula. A total of 19 searches in Temecula by GTF and PACT occurred resulting in the seizure of almost an ounce of methamphetamine and the arrest of 4 individuals.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During one of the probation searches at an apartment complex in the 29500 block of Pujol Street, GTF deputies and officers located an illegally possessed loaded firearm. An arrest was made however due to this investigation continuing, the suspect was not identified.</p>

The Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force is one of 6 teams which compose the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force which is a collaborative effort of multiple law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">PACT is a task force created in response to Assembly Bill 109 which resulted in the state releasing prisoners from state prisons to alleviate overcrowding issues to comply with a Supreme Court decision. These prisoners were moved to county jails or reassigned to the county for supervision under county probation. From there, they are released into the community. &nbsp;Many require post-release supervision.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On January 21, 2022, at 8:36 P.M., Southwest deputies conducted a vehicle stop in the area of La Paz Road and Temecula Parkway for equipment violations. Deputies contacted the driver, who initially provided a fictitious name to conceal his identity. Through investigative techniques, deputies positively identified the driver as Brian Torres (25 years old of Lake Elsinore). Deputies conducted a record check of Torres, which revealed he had three felony warrants for his arrest and was currently on Probation out of Riverside County for Robbery. A search of his vehicle was conducted and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, shotgun ammunition, and Methamphetamine was found. Torres was arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded shotgun, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sales, violation of probation. Torres was booked into custody at <a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/674/Cois-M-Byrd-Detention-Center">the Cois Byrd Detention Center.</a></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11:30 A.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force with the assistance of Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells Special Enforcement Teams served a search warrant at a residence located in the 30000 block of Pauline Avenue in Cathedral City. During the service of the search warrant Gang Task Force Officers located a loaded 9mm semi-auto handgun, several rounds of ammunition and suspected heroin. Convicted felon and documented criminal street gang member, Timothy Osvaldo Ortiz, 33 of Cathedral City was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Firearm with Narcotics. Ortiz had an active Felony Arrest Warrant for Vehicle Theft and was also charged with Evading the Process of the Court in connection with the arrest warrant. Also arrested during the service of the search warrant was Ismael Aguila Santos, 47 of Cathedral City for an active Felony Arrest Warrant for Felony DUI. Both Ortiz and Santos were booked at <a href="https://www.riversidesheriff.org/708/John-J-Benoit-Detention-Center">John Benoit Detention Center in Indio</a>.</p>
