Beginning on June 6, 2023, investigators with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim Unit, launched an investigation into allegations that 32-year-old David Sanabria, a current resident of Oakland and previous resident of Perris, was distributing harmful matter to minors.

The investigation found evidence that Sanabria distributed harmful matter to minors, which included explicit photos of a sexual nature. This investigation also revealed Sanabria was communicating with multiple minors via social media platforms to meet up for sexual acts. During the investigation, additional juvenile victims were identified and contacted by investigators.

During the course of this investigation, it was discovered Sanabria was frequently traveling to Northern California. Investigators worked in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations from the Palm Springs and Northern California region(s) and obtained additional evidence.

On Friday, November 10, 2023, investigators received information that Sanabria was in the Riverside County area. Working in conjunction with Special Enforcement Teams from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, Perris Sheriff’s Station, and members of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Gang Task Force, Sanabria was arrested in the 32000 block of Temecula Parkway, in the city of Temecula. During his arrest, it was discovered Sanabria was accompanied by a minor.

The minor was interviewed by investigators and safely returned home. David Sanabria was arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on numerous charges involving crimes against children with a $1,000,000 bail.

On April 10, 2023, the Sheriff’s Southwest Station responded to a report of online solicitation of a minor for sex. The parent of the minor victim discovered the inappropriate dialogue and images on the victim’s device. The suspect in this case posed online as a 15-year-old male to entice the victim. It was confirmed through evidence collection that the allegations of sending child pornography and soliciting a child for sexual purposes had occurred.  Prior to parent and law enforcement involvement, the suspect was making plans to meet with the victim. Lead Investigator Gasparini was assigned the case. After a lengthy investigation the suspect was identified as Alex Ronaldo Castro Luna a 48 year old resident of Long Beach, CA.

Southwest Station Investigators served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. The suspect was arrested and booked into custody at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. The suspect was arrested for child pornography and online solicitation of minor for sexual purpose charges.

The Riverside County Sheriff Office would like to remind parents that social media and messaging apps are the most common medium used by sexual predators to exploit children. Keep a close eye on what applications children are using and how often they use it.

On April 3, 2023, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a sexual assault of a minor. The Palm Desert Investigations Bureau assumed the investigation and, through the course of the investigation, identified the suspect as Oscar William Alvarez, a 65-year-old resident of Palm Desert.

On August 16, 2023, investigators located and arrested Alvarez in the 39000 block of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage.

Alvarez was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for multiple felony sexual assault charges against a minor.

In July 2023, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a sexual assault of a minor. The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Investigation’s bureau assumed the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect in the case was identified as Kole Scully-Mims, a 23-year-old resident of Menifee. On August 4, 2023, Lake Elsinore Station Investigators along with assistance from Ben Clark Training Center personnel, located and arrested Scully-Mims without incident.

Scully-Mims was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for multiple sexual assault charges against a minor.

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 09:53 a.m., deputies assigned to the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence in the city Moreno Valley, regarding a sexual assault of a minor. Deputies contacted the reporting party, who said the suspect, Ruben Arguello, a 41-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, sexually assaulted their seven-year-old child.

The investigation revealed the assault that occurred in the city of Moreno Valley and additional assaults that took place out of the Country. Arguello was located at his residence and placed under arrest. Arguello was transported to the Robert Presley Detention Center and booked for multiple felony sexual assault charges.

In June 2023, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a sexual assault on a minor, call for service. The Lake Elsinore Investigation Bureau was notified and assumed the case.

During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Martin Ancamil, a 35-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore. On July 10, 2023, Lake Elsinore Station’s Special Enforcement Team located and arrested Ancamil without incident.

Ancamil was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center and charged with multiple felony sexual assault charges against a minor.

On May 19, 2023, at 12:36 p.m., Thermal Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 78800 block of Avenue 50, in the city of La Quinta, reference a 12-year-old juvenile who fled the location with an adult male. School employees were able to obtain a plate for the suspect’s vehicle, which was provided to deputies. The investigation was assumed by the Thermal Station Special Investigations Unit.

At 2:14 p.m., while canvassing the area, the suspect vehicle was located returning to the location. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and the juvenile was returned to her parents. The investigation determined the juvenile was communicating with the suspect via social media. The victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident. The suspect was identified as Joshua Meza, a 25-year-old, resident of Corona.

During a search of Meza’s vehicle, a firearm was located and seized. Meza was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for lewd acts with a minor, contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex crime and possession of a firearm on school grounds.

On April 20, 2023, at approximately 2:00 PM, Southwest Station deputies responded to the 31000 block of Manford Drive, in the unincorporated area of Winchester. Deputies learned an adult male contacted a female juvenile while she was alone riding her bike. The male used his vehicle to block the intersection in a residential area and began questioning her. The male asked the juvenile several inappropriate personal questions which made the juvenile extremely uncomfortable. The juvenile was eventually able to ride away on her bike and fled to a nearby shopping center where she called her parents for help.

The Southwest Station’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) assumed the investigation. The juvenile was able to provide a description of the suspect and his vehicle, a gold four door sedan. Through investigative leads, and use of video surveillance, members of SET positively identified the suspect vehicle as a 2005 gold four-door Mercedes sedan. The suspect was identified as the registered owner, Isaac Bragg, who is a 43-year-old resident of Hemet. Bragg is a registered sex offender and on federal probation for sex trafficking of a minor.

Based upon the investigation, it appears Bragg was attempting to recruit this juvenile for purposes of sex trafficking and violated the terms of his probation. On April 25, 2023, Bragg was located in his vehicle near the 22000 Block of Soboba Road, in the City of San Jacinto. He was taken into custody without incident. Deputies conducted a search of Bragg’s vehicle and residence, which resulted in locating items of evidentiary value to support his actions of sex trafficking.

Bragg was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for annoying / molesting a juvenile, along with the additional felony charges of false imprisonment, human sex trafficking of a minor, and annoying / molesting a child with prior convictions. He is currently being held on $1,000,000 bail. Federal authorities have also been notified and are working with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reference his probation violation.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office believes there may be additional victims and is seeking the public’s assistance. Anyone with information related to similar incidents involving Bragg is encouraged to contact Sergeant Josh Hephner of the Southwest Station at (951) 304–5087.

On April 25, 2023, at 3:57 PM, a call for service was generated in 72300 Block of State Highway 111, in the City of Palm Desert by a YouTube influencer group. The group called dispatch to notify the department they would be confronting a man who worked in the area regarding sexually motivated communications he was having with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old boy. The group live streamed the confrontation on YouTube. The group was asked to respond to the Palm Desert Sheriff Station where they provided the communications between their group, who were posing as the 14-year-old boy, and the man who was later identified as Brandon Bourgeois.

Palm Desert Investigations were called to the station and took over the investigation. Brandon Bourgeois, age 40 of Hemet, was arrested and booked into jail for contacting a minor to commit a felony and attempted oral copulation with a person under 16 years of age.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2023, at 10:31 p.m., deputies from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a runaway/missing juvenile girl in the unincorporated area of Hemet. During their investigation, deputies learned the underaged girl had been picked up by an unknown subject. Later, deputies located and detained an adult male who picked up the underaged girl. During their investigation, deputies determined the suspect, Frankie Frias, a 39-year-old Hispanic male and resident of Hemet, had sexually assaulted the underaged girl. The Sheriff’s Anti Human Trafficking Task Force and investigators from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded to assist with the investigation.

Frias was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for the following charges: Human trafficking, rape of an intoxicated person, unlawful sexual contact with a minor, committing a lewd act upon a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and placing a tattoo upon the person of a minor.
