On Wednesday, June 8 at approximately 7:00 pm, the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center began receiving calls regarding a traffic collision near the intersection of Sanderson Avenue and Devonshire Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they located a traffic collision between a motorcycle and a Ford sedan. The motorcycle rider suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he did not survive.

Hemet Police collision investigators responded and learned the driver of a 2012 Ford Tuarus was traveling south on Sanderson Avenue attempting to turn left into the driveway of a nearby car- wash. The rider of the Suzuki motorcycle was traveling north on Sanderson Avenue when the car turned left, and the vehicles collided. There was no indication of impaired driving, and no arrests were made. The name of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Sanderson Avenue was closed to traffic between Devonshire Avenue and Menlo Avenue for several hours while the investigation was conducted.

A motorcyclist had to be airlifted to a Riverside County trauma unit on Monday evening, Aug. 2 following the second of two separate but related traffic collisions that occurred in the same area less than an hour apart. A REACH helicopter landed and lifted off from the southbound lanes of Highway 111 south of Heber Road after the driver of the motorcycle rear-ended a car that was reducing its speed due to backed-up traffic from an earlier accident, California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer Arturo Platero said on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 3.

Few details were available as Highway Patrol had yet to issue a report on either collision by Tuesday afternoon. The more serious incident was reported about 5:05 p.m. when the motorcyclist hit a Honda Civic from behind.

The driver of the motorcycle was “unconscious on scene,” Platero said, and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

No name, age, city, or degree of injury was available for the motorcyclist, according to Platero, and the occupant or occupants of the Civic were not injured.

No other information on that accident was available, he added.

The Civic was slowing down due to traffic being backed up from four-vehicle collision that occurred about 4:15 p.m., when a woman who was driving her car in the north lanes of 111 south of Heber Road says she lost consciousness and traveled into the southbound No. 1 lane of the highway, Platero said.

She then sideswiped three southbound vehicles, all of which had already seen the woman heading in their direction and were able to avoid serious damage or injury, he added.

Only the driver was transported from the scene, by ground ambulance, for precautionary reasons because she claimed to have blacked out, Platero explained.

No personal information about the woman was available from Highway Patrol.

Both accidents were still under investigation by Highway Patrol.

Authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver that claimed the life of Jacob Becerra on July 11.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., at the intersection of El Toro Road and Sanderson Pass.

Per reports, the victim was riding a dirt bike when he was struck by a dark colored Toyota Tacoma pickup-truck. Witnesses say the truck was last seen heading west on El Toro Road towards Interstate 15.

The Cal Fire Riverside County Fire Department transported the motorcyclist to a hospital. However, 16-year-old Jacob Becerra succumbed to his injuries after 9 days in Inland Valley Medical Center.

At this time, no further information has been released. Lake Elsinore Officials are still currently investigating the fatal incident.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with AMR and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the crash around 11:30 a.m. 911 callers reported a motorcyclist involved in the collision was ejected from his three-wheeled motorcycle and possibly trapped under a commercial van.
Officials began arriving at the scene within minutes of the dispatched call and found a white Dodge commercial van operated by a Pugs Sunglasses representative and a silver, three-wheeled, CanAm Spyder motorcycle, in the westbound lanes of traffic on Florida Ave. The two vehicles were blocking the westbound lanes of Florida Ave., in front of Shooters Bar and Grill.

Numerous witnesses and good Samaritans had stopped at the scene and were providing aid and comfort to the downed rider, while keeping the other involved driver calm.
Rescue personnel found the motorcyclist stuck under the front of the van, pinned between grill of the commercial vehicle and his three-wheeled motorcycle, according to witnesses.
The rider had sustained severe trauma and was bleeding profusely from a serious injury to his right leg and paramedics immediately began evaluating and treating the seriously injured man. He was eventually rushed to an area hospital for further treatment and his current condition was not available as of this publication.

While working at the scene, officials called for the temporary closure of westbound Florida Ave. and all traffic was diverted away from the accident scene.
Hemet PD is investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is ongoing at the scene. Officials have asked for area residents to seek alternate routes until their crash investigation is completed.
