Singer D4vd was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder in connection with the case of a girl whose decomposing body was discovered inside his Tesla in Hollywood.

David Anthony Burke, 21, was taken into custody at a home in the Hollywood Hills, a law enforcement source who has knowledge of the investigation, but is not authorized to speak publicly, told The Times. He is being held without bail.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez was reported missing in 2024 from the Inland Empire, according to authorities, but her whereabouts since then remained a mystery. Though her name was initially listed as Celeste Rivas with the county medical examiner’s office, it has since been updated with the Hernandez surname.

According to police, the girl’s severely decomposed body was found in the vehicle at Hollywood Tow on Sept. 8, 2025 after it was impounded. Someone noticed a foul odor coming from the vehicle and detectives arrived at the tow yard to investigate.

Law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation, but not authorized to discuss the case publicly, told The Times the vehicle was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills five days before it was impounded.

Detectives served a search warrant at a home in that upscale neighborhood on Doheny Drive, north of Sunset Boulevard. Law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case but not authorized to speak publicly said the detective received various items, including electronics and computers.

Burke was raised in Houston and has collaborated with musicians Kali Uchis, Stray Kids’ Hyunjin, Laufey and 21 Savage. He also created an anthem for the game “Fortnite.”

Burke had been on a national tour promoting his debut album, “Withered,” since early August. He performed in Boston, Montreal and Toronto in late August and in early September had stops in Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis. But the tour was canceled amid the investigation.

The Withered World Tour includes themes of death and remembrance. Fans entering Burke’s show are greeted by a casket and guest book, where they can pay condolences to a character Burke sometimes reprises in his performances and music videos. Part of that character’s uniform includes a shirt covered in bloody handprints and a blindfold.

“Withered” was released on Darkroom and Interscope Records in April. The album charted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and has more than 521 million streams on Spotify. On Sept. 7, in his last social media post, Burke announced on Instagram he was going to drop a deluxe version of the album. It was one of his last social media posts before Rivas’ body was discovered.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Felony charges are expected to be filed Thursday against a man suspected of gunning down a 34-year-old Lake Elsinore resident.

Ian Norwood Wentz, 47, of Lake Elsinore was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center Sunday on suspicion of murder after he surrendered to deputies at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department station in Lake Elsinore.

Wentz is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

His case was under review Wednesday by the District Attorney’s Office.

According to sheriff’s Sgt. Alberto Loureiro, shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, the suspect was involved in an unspecified dispute with Garrett Pickering in the 2000 block of East Lakeshore Drive, near Elm Street.

Ian Norwood Wentz, 47, of Lake Elsinore (Riverside County Sheriff’s Department)

During the confrontation, Wentz allegedly pulled a handgun and shot Pickering, then fled the scene, Loureiro said.

Witnesses called 911, and patrol deputies and paramedics reached the location minutes later, at which point the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wentz was soon identified as the alleged shooter, but before a search was initiated, the suspect surrendered without incident Sunday at the sheriff’s station on Limited Avenue.

There was no word on whether the two men were acquainted or strangers.

Background information on Wentz was unavailable.

A Riverside man was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of killing a roommate during a dispute and then burying the body in the backyard of the home they shared, police said on Friday, Oct. 17.

Investigators don’t yet know what the suspect, Richard Thomas Martinez, 48, and the victim, 31-year-old Bradley Minder, argued about, police said.

Minder’s family last heard from him over the weekend and called Riverside police on Tuesday night, Oct. 15, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a police spokesman. Around 7:45 p.m. that night, officers went to the 8700 block of Sylvan Drive in the Arlanza neighborhood where Minder lived.

Railsback said he believes at least three people lived there.

Officers learned that the suspect allegedly said to at least one other person he killed a roommate, police said. Officers then detained him.

There was freshly disturbed dirt in the backyard, Railsback said, so detectives, forensic specialists and Riverside County sheriff’s cadaver dogs were called in.

The dogs alerted them about the disturbed dirt, and detectives dug and saw part of a body, Railsback said. The Riverside Sheriff-Coroner’s Office recovered the body.

“We don’t believe the victim was shot or stabbed,” Railsback said.

Martinez was arrested on suspicion of murder early Wednesday morning. As of Friday morning, he was being held without the possibility of bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center.

On Friday, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged Martinez with murder. They also alleged that Martinez personally used deadly and dangerous weapons, in this case a hammer, a shovel and a knife, while committing the crime, according to the criminal complaint.

Police asked anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Ricky Barajas at 951-353-7213 or at EBarajas@RiversideCA.gov.
