Details:

On Sunday, February 26, 2023, between 08:01 P.M. and 9:16 P.M., deputies from the Perris Station responded to three separate armed robbery calls occurring near the 500 Block of W. 4th Street, the 400 Block of W. Nuevo Road, and the 1400 Block of S. A Street, all in the city of Perris. Deputies arrived on-scene and learned the two suspects, later identified as Angel Ortega (31 years of Fresno) and Victor Ortega (29 years of Perris), pulled up to the victims in their vehicle, brandished a firearm, and demanded their property before fleeing the different locations. The victims were robbed of various items including a cell phone, a wallet with cash, and a backpack. Video surveillance nearby revealed the suspect vehicle was a silver, 2019 Chevy Cruze (CA 8XPV650). About 9:38 P.M., deputies located the suspect vehicle near Ramona Expressway and Perris Blvd. and conducted a felony enforcement stop in the parking lot of a business near Walnut Avenue and Perris Blvd. The suspect vehicle appeared to stop, but then accelerated and side-swiped the deputy’s patrol unit before heading south on Perris Blvd. Deputies initiated a vehicle pursuit that lasted about a minute and terminated in a field just north of a business located in the 1800 Block of N. Perris Blvd when the suspect vehicle became stuck. Deputies detained both suspects after a brief chase on foot. The Perris Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) were called in and assumed the investigation. A search of the suspect vehicle revealed property belonging to the victims of all three robberies as well as two replica firearms. Angel and Victor Ortega were later transported and booked into the jail for multiple felony charges including Armed Robbery, Conspiracy, Felony Evading, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. This investigation is on-going.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call RBST Investigator Rooker at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or the Perris Station at (951) 210-1000.

Details:

On Friday, December 16, 2022, at 8:12 AM, deputies from the Perris Station responded to a burglary in the 30000 Block of 12th Avenue in Nuevo, where several items were stolen from the residence, including a motorcycle. There was a tracking device on the motorcycle and it was tracked to the 14000 Block of Las Brisis Way in the city of Moreno Valley. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, along with deputies from the Moreno Valley Station, responded and located the stolen motorcycle in the back of a white Chevy pickup truck. The occupants of the truck drove off and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, the driver, later identified as Armando Gonzalez, a 31-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, tossed out a handgun from the truck, which was recovered by deputies. Gonzalez drove the Chevy off-road and the Riverside County Sheriff’s helicopter continued to follow the vehicle into the hills of Nuevo. With the help of the Riverside County Sheriff Special Enforcement Bureau armored vehicle, the suspect stopped fleeing voluntarily near Elkins Road and Jules Street.

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Chad Craig

File # MV222900100

Details:

On October 17, 2022, at 10:16 AM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station, located a silver 2008 BMW sedan driving recklessly south on Indian Street near Dracaea Avenue in the city of Moreno Valley. Further investigation revealed the BMW was wanted in connection with evading deputies several days earlier, but was never located. The BMW was seen again today driving erratically at a high rate of speed, running stops signs, failing to stop at red lights, and driving on the wrong side of the road. A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter followed the BMW from the air, as it drove dangerously throughout the city and was seen throwing numerous beer bottles out of the vehicle. Several motorcycle enforcement deputies attempted to stop the BMW, but it fled and evaded them at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle enforcement deputies pursued the BMW through city streets until it ran a red traffic light and collided into a white Ford Ranger at the intersection of Kitching Street and Cactus Avenue. The impact of the collision caused the Ford Ranger to overturn and collide with two additional vehicles. The driver of the BMW then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Deputies chased the driver and he was arrested as he ran through a nearby flood control channel. The passenger of the BMW remained inside the vehicle and was arrested without incident.

Paramedics responded to scene and provided medical treatment for all of the involved parties. The drivers of the involved vehicles sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger of the BMW both sustained minor injuries. Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene and assumed the traffic collision portion of the investigation.

The driver of the BMW was identified as Gabriel Cabrera, a 25-year-old resident of Moreno Valley and was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. Cabrera was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for recklessly evading a peace officer, hit and run with injury, committing a felony while out of custody on bail, assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and resisting an executive officer. The passenger of the BMW was identified as Robert Valdez, a 21-year-old resident of Moreno Valley.
Details:

On Friday, May 13, 2022, at approximately 1:43 pm, Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station were notified of a suspect with an outstanding violation of Parole warrant, and considered armed and dangerous. A high-risk vehicle stop was attempted in the city of Rancho Mirage. The suspect vehicle fled from law enforcement and a vehicle pursuit was authorized based on the severity of the offenses associated with the suspect. The suspect vehicle crashed and came to rest in the area of Oasis Club Drive and Country Club Drive. The outstanding suspect jumped the wall into a neighboring community, where he hid inside a nearby residence.

A perimeter was established, and additional resources were summoned to the scene. Several residences were searched to ensure the safety of the community and to bring this incident to a peaceful resolution. The suspect was safely apprehended without incident in the 100 block of Azzuro Drive. An additional occupant of the residence was also safely taken into custody for knowingly harboring a fugitive. Daniel Ramirez, a 36-year-old resident of Thermal, and Saliba Deeb, a 29-year-old resident of Palm Desert, were arrested and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in the city of Indio.

No one was injured as a result of this incident and no property damage was incurred. All suspects were safely apprehended, and there is no further threat to the community. We would like to thank the affected residents of Palm Desert for their continued patience and their assistance during this high-risk incident. This was a team effort between law enforcement and residents to keep the community safe.
