Felony and misdemeanor charges are expected to be filed Wednesday against a 47-year-old man suspected of vandalizing the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office’s Coachella Valley branch, then attempting to hide on the roof of a nearby building, where he was forcibly taken into custody.

Sean Allen Camba of Temecula was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail Monday on suspicion of felony vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. Camba is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

His case was under review Tuesday by the District Attorney’s Office.

According to the Indio Police Department, shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, the suspect allegedly caused damage to the D.A.’s building in the 82900 block of Highway 111, adjacent to the Larson Justice Center.

The extent of the vandalism was not specified, and a possible motive wasn’t mentioned.

A witness observed the acts and followed Camba to another property less than a block away, where he allegedly perpetrated further vandalism before climbing onto the roof of the Sunline Transit Agency building near Highway 111 and Jackson Street in an apparent effort to hide, according to police Sgt. Abe Plata.

He said patrol officers arrived a short time later and requested assistance from the multi-agency Desert Regional SWAT team. In the meantime, Highway 111 was shut down between Golf Center Parkway and Salton Street for public safety.

Attempts to talk Camba down from the roof failed, and just before 2 p.m., SWAT members deployed flash bang grenades to divert his attention while other members clambered onto the roof, where they took him into custody without further incident.

Camba was not injured, nor were any law enforcement personnel.

Background information on the suspect also was not available.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A student at UC Riverside has been suspended after authorities found an assault rifle and ammunition in his dorm room, according to media reports Monday.

Police found an assault rifle, ammunition, and five high-capacity magazines in the student’s dorm room on Friday. UC Riverside announced the student, who was not identified, was placed on interim suspension, the Riverside Press-Enterprise is reporting.

Police also found drawings in a journal depicting violent acts in the student’s dorm room, according to UC Riverside. The content of the drawings was not provided.

UC Riverside police officers executed a search warrant in the student’s dorm room after “finding evidence of a weapon” on campus. UC Riverside officials said the student is not in school and won’t be returning until an administrative hearing.

“A search of a room in the North District residential apartments revealed an assault rifle registered to a student, ammunition, five high- capacity magazines, and hand-drawn images in a journal depicting a violent act,” the school said in a statement.

The school’s policy prohibits students to possess, use, or manufacture a firearm.

The student was not arrested according to UC Riverside police records, and the case was sent to the Riverside County District Attorney who will decide whether to press charges.

UC Riverside officials also said the incident was not a result of “any recent campus events.” Pro-Palestinian demonstrators had set up encampments on campus and were demonstrating.

The University of California Riverside announced Sunday that one of its students was suspended after police found an assault rifle, ammunition, and five high-capacity magazines in a dorm room.

UCR police officers executed a search warrant Friday after finding “evidence of a weapon” on campus. The school did not reveal the identity of the resident under investigation, but claimed the student has left and won’t be returning until an administrative hearing.

“A search of a room in the North District residential apartments revealed an assault rifle registered to a student, ammunition, five high-capacity magazines, and hand-drawn images in a journal depicting a violent act,” the school said in a statement.

It is against the school’s policy to possess, use, or manufacture a firearm. This student was not arrested according to UCR police records, but the case was given to the Riverside County District Attorney who could possibly file charges.

According to the school, this was not the result of “any recent campus events” which is likely a reference to the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests. The subsequent encampment was shut down Friday as a result of a deal that included the discontinuation of study abroad programs in Israel, Egypt, and Jordan. Additionally, a student task force will soon oversee the management of investments “in a manner that will be financially and ethically sound for the university with consideration to the companies involved in arms manufacturing and delivery.”
