On July 29, 2023, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff Station responded to a robbery that occurred in the area of Ramon Road and Thousand Palm Canyon Road, in unincorporated Thousand Palms. The investigation revealed the victim was contacted by a female suspect at an establishment in the 32200 block of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage and lured into a vehicle in the parking lot. Two additional suspects were in the vehicle and the victim left the area with the 3 suspects. The driver of the vehicle was described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic male, with several tattoos covering his head and body. One of the females was described as a Hispanic female adult in her 30’s and the other was described as a white female adult in her 40’s. After driving the victim to the area of Ramon Road and Thousand Palms Canyon Road, the driver of the vehicle brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded all the victim’s belongings. Deputies obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and were later able to identify the driver as Nicholas Tyler Young, a 31-year-old resident of Palm Springs.

On August 2, 2023, the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team located and arrested Young during a traffic stop in the parking lot of a business, located in the 68000 block of Ramon Road, in Cathedral City. Young was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for a parole violation, robbery and conspiracy.

On August 30, 2022, at about 9:30 pm, Deputies from the Palm Desert Station responded to a report of an attempted carjacking and robbery that took place near the 77000 block of Michigan Drive, Palm Desert. During the investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Linnell Wilson, a 19-year-old resident of Palm Desert, and located him at his residence.

A search warrant was granted for Wilson’s residence. During the service of the search warrant, property belonging to the victim was located inside Wilson’s home.

On August 31, 2022, at about 2:30 am, Wilson was arrested for attempted carjacking, strong arm robbery, child endangerment, and criminal threats. Wilson was booked into custody at the John Benoit Detention Center.

The Murrieta/Temecula Regional Gang Task Force assumed the investigation. While conducting the investigation, additional evidence identifying Coco as the suspect was located.

On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at approximately 2:00 P.M, with the assistance of the Murrieta Police Department’s Community Police Team (CPT) and Special Enforcement Team (SET), during an unrelated probation compliance search at a residence in the 33000 block of Zeiders Road, in the City of Menifee, Coco was arrested for the Temecula carjacking / robbery incident. Coco also had several other felony warrants for his arrest including a parolee at large warrant.

Additionally, when officers arrived at the Zeiders residence to conduct the probation compliance check, an officer assigned to CPT attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle leaving the property for expired registration when the vehicle refused to stop. The fleeing vehicle returned to the property and the driver fled on foot. Additional resources arrived on scene and located the driver hiding inside a trailer on the property. The driver was identified as Justin Denhoed, a subject on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). Denhoed was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant and further investigation revealed the vehicle he fled in had been reported stolen out of the Winchester area. An additional subject on the property, identified as Jeffery Jones was also arrested for narcotics related offenses.
