Smart House factory may be on the way to Hemet. 

Recently, the City of Hemet Planning Division has received applications for a permit and review in order to build a TESLA powered modular smart home factory. What this factory creates are S2A modular homes. These homes are electrically self sustaining via solar, luxury homes. They are fast to build, easier to build, and cut down on energy bills. Unlike normal houses and as the existence of a “house factory” implies is that unlike traditional house building they are not build on site, but rather in a factory and then transported to desired spot for residents. This creates a lot of flexibility, you no longer need to pay vast sums or move into a freshly build residential zone, you can have a small plot of land anywhere. If the house fits wear it!

The proposed building site would include smart home factory with a showroom and model display area of 7 buildings totaling approximately 250,000 sq ft building on approximately 32.1 acres. The project site is located at 3121 and 1255 N. State Street on the west side of State St. The facility is also Net Zero, meaning it is run entirely by solar with battery storage, and all deliveries are made via electric Tesla trucks.

The snag in the project is the worry of compliance with environmental guidelines. The area intended for the build lies on top of both a fault line as well as a natural drainage area that flows through existing industrial businesses. City staff has determined a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) is necessary to, to comply with Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) regulations. Movement has been made and already there is movement towards completing the MND.
