A Temecula resident has been taken into custody in connection with what authorities describe as a large-scale organized burglary operation targeting high-value homes across Southern California.

According to the El Segundo Police Department, investigators arrested the suspect after following leads tied to a residential burglary reported earlier this year in El Segundo.

Detectives said the investigation eventually led them to a home in Temecula, where officers executed a search warrant on Feb. 25. During the search, authorities recovered items believed to have been stolen from multiple locations across several counties.

Police reported that property valued at approximately $600,000 linked to a January burglary in El Segundo was located at the residence. Investigators also discovered additional valuables believed to be connected to other theft cases, with the total estimated value exceeding $6 million.

Among the recovered items were more than 100 luxury designer handbags, including brands such as Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, along with 22 high-end watches from manufacturers including Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. Authorities also seized jewelry, collectible coins, baseball trading cards, several firearms and about $800,000 in cash.

The suspect is facing multiple charges, including residential burglary, possession of stolen property and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Officials said additional charges tied to crimes in other cities may also be filed.

Investigators believe the individual may be connected to an organized residential burglary group that has operated in several jurisdictions, including Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

Detectives are continuing to examine the recovered property and are working to identify additional victims who may have had valuables stolen.

Authorities also urged residents to be cautious about what they share online, noting that some burglary crews monitor social media posts to identify homes that may be vacant or contain valuable items.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact investigators with the El Segundo Police Department.

Two people allegedly used $100 counterfeit bills at dozens of In-N-Out Burger restaurants in Southern California in a wide-reaching scam.

Glendale Police officials said in a statement Friday that 26-year-old Tatiyanna Foster of Long Beach was taken into custody last month. Another suspect, 24-year-old Auriona Lewis, also of Long Beach, was arrested in October.

Police released images of $100 bills used to purchase a $2.53 order of fries and a $5.93 order of a Flying Dutchman.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Lewis with felony counterfeiting and grand theft in November.

Elizabeth Megan Lashley-Haynes, Lewis’s public defender, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Glendale police said that Lewis was arrested in Palmdale in an operation involving the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Foster is expected in court later this month, officials said.

”Lewis was found to be in possession of counterfeit bills matching those used in the Glendale incident, along with numerous gift cards and transaction receipts believed to be connected to similar fraudulent activity,” according to a police statement.

A representative for In-N-Out Burger told KTLA-TV that restaurants in Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties were also targeted by the alleged scam.

“Their dedication and expertise resulted in the identification and apprehension of the suspects, helping to protect our business and our communities,” In-N-Out’s Chief Operations Officer Denny Warnick said. “We greatly value the support of law enforcement and appreciate the vital role they play in making our communities stronger and safer places to live.”

The company, opened in 1948 in Baldwin Park, has restaurants in nine states.

An Oakland location closed in 2024, with the owner blaming crime and slow police response times.

Company chief executive Lynsi Snyder announced last year that she planned to relocate her family to Tennessee, although the burger chain’s headquarters will remain in California.

A federal grand jury on Tuesday returned a six-count indictment against four members of an alleged anti-government group who were arrested in the Inland Empire this month and are accused of plotting to set off bombs on New Year’s Eve at companies in Southern California.

Audrey Illeene Carroll, 30, of South Los Angeles, Zachary Aaron Page, 32, of Torrance, Dante James Anthony Gaffield, 24, of South Los Angeles, and Tina Lai, 41, of Glendale are each charged with one count of providing and attempting to provide material support to terrorists, and one count of possession of unregistered firearms. Carroll and Page are also charged with one count of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction.

All four defendants are in federal custody without bond. Lai’s arraignment is scheduled for January 2, Carroll and Page on January 5, and Gaffield on January 20. The arraignments will take place in the U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles.

“The charges a federal grand jury returned today reflect the seriousness of the conduct: a planned terrorist attack on American soil on New Year’s Eve,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli. “If convicted, this group of self-professed left-wing radicals will face decades in federal prison. We will continue to investigate and prosecute any and all terror groups and bring them to justice.”

FBI agents arrested the four defendants on December 12 in the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County. The defendants were allegedly building and testing explosives as part of the New Year’s Eve plot.

The defendants are all members of the “radical, anti-government Turtle Island Liberation Front,” Essayli said.

Authorities claim the group is a “far-left pro-Palestinian, anti-government, and anti-capitalist organization” that also allegedly advocates for attacks targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and vehicles.

The New Year’s Eve bombing plot was designed to “completely pulverize” the targets, which included technology and logistics companies with offices across Southern California. After drafting the bombing plot, Carroll recruited others — including Page, Gaffield, and Lai — to join the attack plan, according to prosecutors.

Surveillance images allegedly show the defendants testing explosive devices in the Mojave Desert and possessing bomb-making components intended for use in coordinated New Year’s Eve bombings. (DOJ)

The defendants allegedly had a handwritten plan that laid out how complex pipe bombs were to be used in the New Year’s Eve scheme, including instructions on how to manufacture the explosive devices, and guidance to avoid leaving evidence behind that could be traced back to the group, according to the criminal complaint.

Carroll and Page led the bomb-building efforts and recruited others to join their scheme, Essayli said. Many of the components needed for the explosive devices were purchased by Carroll on Amazon, according to the complaint.

Prior to the desert meetup, the defendants allegedly used a Signal messaging group called the “Order of the Black Lotus” to discuss the bombing plot, including the plan to test explosive devices in the Mojave Desert, according to the criminal complaint.

The Order of the Black Lotus is a faction of the Turtle Island Liberation Front that Essayli described as “even more radical.”

Carroll also allegedly operated an Instagram account, @turtleislandliberationfrontla, which includes the tagline “Liberation through decolonization and tribal sovereignty.”

Authorities are searching for a man suspected of stealing multiple packages from an apartment community in Irvine over the weekend.

The twist? The suspect bears a resemblance to pop star Post Malone.

“The suspect seems to love everything ‘post,’ including taking postal packages that don’t belong to him,” the Irvine Police Department said on Instagram. “We don’t want to be running in circles. We want to say we had some help.”

Police said the man, not yet identified, was caught on camera Sunday stealing more than five packages inside an apartment community on Spectrum Center Drive.

Public Information Officer Kyle Oldoerp said police did not yet know how many people might have fallen victim to “Postal Malone.”

The suspect has tattoos on the right side of his face and his right hand, police said. He was last seen wearing a white hoodie and black cap.

“We have some leads and hope to locate the man soon,” Oldoerp told The Times on Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Ward at mward@cityofirvine.org.
