Details:

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, about 11:00 p.m., a burglary occurred at a cemetery in the 22000 block of Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, where two suspects broke into a maintenance building, stealing over $20,000.00 worth of equipment. The Riverside Sheriff’s Perris Station’s Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) began working on this burglary and obtained information about the vehicles involved. During the investigation, deputies identified one of the suspects as Kevin Mateas – a 28-year-old resident of Mead Valley.

On Friday, February 2, 2024, about 12:30 p.m., Perris RBST, along with the Perris City Special Enforcement Team and Perris Gang Task Force, served a search warrant at a residence in the 18000 Block of Seaton Avenue in Mead Valley. Mateas was taken into custody without incident, and evidence of the crime was collected. Mateas was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for burglary, felony vandalism, and committing a felony while out on bail. The Perris RBST is still working to identify the second suspect involved. This investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available at this time.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call RBST Deputy Ramirez at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099 or the Perris Station at (951) 210-1000.

File # EV233340020

Details:

On December 6, 2023, an armed robbery occurred at a bank located in the 14000 block of Schleisman Road, Eastvale. Riverside Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Station investigators responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Investigators later learned of a similar robbery that occurred on January 4, 2024, in the city of Chino Hills.

Jurupa Valley investigators contacted investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) Chino Hills Station regarding the similar incidents. Based on the two investigations, SBCSD investigators identified the suspect as Aresh Narmaki, a 52-year-old resident of Chino Hills. SBCSD Specialized Enforcement Division personnel arrested Narmaki without incident at his residence in the city of Chino Hills.

Jurupa Valley investigators responded as SBCSD investigators served a search warrant in the 6300 block of Blossom Lane, Chino Hills. As a result of the search warrant, evidence related to both robberies was recovered.

Narmaki was subsequently booked into the West Valley Detention Center for armed robbery and has an additional charge of armed robbery being filed with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. The joint investigation between RSD and SBCSD yielded a positive result and prevented Narmaki from continuing his robbery spree.

Anyone with additional information regarding the investigation is urged to contact Investigator Medina at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099 or the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at (951) 955-2600 or Investigator Renear at San Bernardino Sheriff’s Dispatch at (909) 364-2000

As a reminder, “Community Policing” involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members. Business owners and residents are encouraged to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency. Criminal activity can also be reported through the We-Tip Crime Reporting Hotline, (909) 987-5005.

File: SW232710041

Details:

On September 28, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Southwest Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a business in the 34000 Block of Calle Arnaz in the unincorporated area of Temecula, reference an armed robbery. Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect was waiting outside of the business as employees were closing the store for the evening. The suspect pointed a handgun at the employees and forced one of them back into the office to empty money from the safe. The suspect made threats toward the employees during the encounter and fled the location on foot prior to deputies’ arrival.

The victims were able to provide a description of the suspect and direction of travel. Responding deputies checked the area along with Sheriff’s Aviation; however, the suspect was not located.

The Southwest Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) assumed the investigation and began following all leads. RBST conducted an extensive canvass of the area during daytime hours and located evidence dropped on a nearby property. Through use of a Sheriff’s bloodhound, deputies were able to locate additional evidence dropped by the suspect. Utilizing investigative resources and evidence located, members of RBST positively identified the suspect as Irvin Banks, a 50-year old resident of Temecula. It was also learned Banks is on federal probation for robbery.

Reporting Deputy: Lieutenant Francisco Velasco

File # ZE233000002

Details:

On Friday, October 27, 2023, at 7:51 a.m., deputies and police officers with the Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction Detail located a stolen vehicle at the 79000 block of Highway 111, La Quinta. Patrol units from the city of La Quinta attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle, but the vehicle fled a short distance. The driver and passenger abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled into the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

La Quinta patrol and special enforcement team deputies, with assistance from the Riverside Sheriff’s aviation unit, were able to track the driver to the backyard of a residence located in the 79000 block of Shadow Trail, La Quinta. A perimeter was established by La Quinta patrol and special enforcement team deputies. In an abundance of caution, while deputies searched for the suspects, the Riverside Sheriff’s helicopter made announcements for the residents to shelter in place until the search was complete. Working in conjunction with the Special Enforcement Bureau K9 Unit, the suspect was located hiding inside a small storage building, where he surrendered without incident.

The passenger was located outside of the perimeter and detained. The driver, Patrick Duran a 36-year-old resident of Coachella, was arrested and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for vehicle theft, felony evading, and a felony warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle. This investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Deputy Molina of the Thermal Sheriff’s Station by calling 760–863–8990. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Valley Crimestoppers at (760) 341–7867.

File# T232800034 / T232910107

Details:

On October 7, 2023, at 2:21 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a grand theft at a retail store in the 73000 block of El Paseo, Palm Desert. Two suspects entered the store, stole several high-value items of merchandise, and ran out of the store within seconds. On October 18, 2023, the same suspects entered the same business and stole a significant amount of merchandise prior to fleeing the area. The Palm Desert Investigations Bureau, with the assistance of the Palm Desert Station-Business District Team, assumed the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, one of the suspects, 25-year-old Nikolas Mallory of Los Angeles, was identified as also being a suspect in several similar robberies in Los Angeles. Using investigative leads developed by Palm Desert Investigations and the Los Angeles Police Department-Organized Retail Crime Task Force, on October 22, 2023, search warrants were served in the 800 block of W. 104th Street, Los Angeles, and Mallory was taken into custody. Evidence implicating Mallory in the thefts on El Paseo was recovered and he was booked into a Los Angeles County jail. The identity of the second suspect remains unknown at this time; however, the investigation is currently ongoing.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Investigator Pfohlman at 760–836–1600.

The identity of these suspects and organizations is a result of working with many allied agencies across California who are also combating the rise in organized retail crime. These investigations have resulted in numerous arrests by the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station.

The Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station would like to remind the public to not interfere or attempt to apprehend suspects involved in organized retail crime. Instead, be a good witness, obtain license plates, directions of travel, or any other identifying suspect information to aid investigators.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has a zero-tolerance policy for these offenses. If you suspect illegal activity in your area, please contact the Coachella Valley Dispatch Center at 760–836–3215 or dial 911 in the event of an emergency.
