Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Sheree Anthony

File # MV240230141

Details:

On January 23, 2024, at 12:10 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the 23000 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, regarding an adult female trespassing in the parking lot of the business and refusing to leave. The female, later identified as Adriana Sandoval, a 26-year-old resident of Riverside, was the driver of a silver Chevrolet sedan with two young juveniles in the backseat. Sandoval was uncooperative with responding deputies and sped away, nearly striking a deputy when she left. Deputies attempted a vehicle enforcement stop, but the vehicle did not yield and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Sandoval traveled on the 60 freeway west and the 215 freeway north, striking multiple innocent vehicles in her path. There were no injuries reported from those collisions.

The pursuit concluded in lanes of traffic on the northbound Interstate 215 freeway, just east of Blaine Street in the city of Riverside. Sandoval barricaded herself inside her vehicle on the freeway and ignored all commands to surrender. While negotiating with Sandoval, another vehicle drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 215 freeway, in an attempt to prevent the arrest of Sandoval. The driver of that vehicle was identified as Johnathan Roldan, a 24-year-old resident of Riverside. Roldan was known to Sandoval and was arrested for obstructing an investigation, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

After nearly 20 minutes of negotiations with Sandoval, she was removed from the vehicle and arrested. The young children were located safe inside the vehicle and taken into protective custody. This investigation required the closure of the Interstate 215 north east of Blaine Street for approximately 30 minutes. Sandoval was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer, reckless evading, child endangerment, and resisting a peace officer. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Anyone with additional information regarding the investigation is urged to contact Deputy Ismael Bermudez of the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700.

Details:

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 7:43 p.m., an employee of business reported a theft of fragrances valued at over ten thousand dollars had just occurred. The reporting party stated two Black male adults entered the business with empty bags, filled them with perfume, and then fled the business in an unknown vehicle. Deputies located the suspect vehicle, a blue sedan, and attempted a traffic stop just west of Date Palm on westbound Interstate 10. The driver failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle began driving erratically at a high rate of speed, and onto the freeway dirt shoulder. The pursuit terminated after the suspect vehicle collided into a tree, approximately four miles east of Cabazon. The passenger, Dalin Sasser, 24-year-old resident of San Bernardino, attempted to flee on foot and was caught and apprehended. The driver, Phillip Noble, 27-year-old resident of San Bernardino, was detained without incident. Stolen property from the business was recovered inside of the suspect vehicle. Both suspects will be booked into John Benoit Detention Center. The investigation is on-going.

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant R. Armendariz

File # G230520026

Details:

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 3:15 PM, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Station (Norco) responded to the 3800 block of Pedley Avenue, in the city of Norco, regarding a suspicious person. Deputies located the subject, later identified as Ryan Kendall (age 54), resident of Beaumont, in a vehicle. Upon contacting Kendall, deputies believed he was under the influence of a controlled substance and attempted to detain him. Kendall fled the scene, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, tire deflation devices were successfully deployed, which caused all four tires to deflate.

As the pursuit entered the city of Corona, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team and the Corona Police Department responded to assist. Using an armored vehicle, the Corona Police Department conducted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to bring the pursuit to an end. After Kendall’s vehicle spun out, he intentionally accelerated toward two Riverside County Sheriff’s vehicles and struck them. After he rammed the sheriff’s vehicles, Kendall’s vehicle was immobilized, and he was eventually taken into custody.

No deputies or officers were injured. The suspect was treated at a local area hospital for injuries he sustained during this incident. Kendall was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, resisting arrest, driving under the influence and evading.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Whittenburg at the Jurupa Valley Station at 951-955-2600.

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Dave Morton

File # B230180001 / O230190034

Details:

On January 18, 2023, at 1:43 AM, Deputies from the Cabazon station responded to a domestic assault which occurred in the 12800 block of Emerald Drive in the unincorporated community of White Water. The investigation revealed the suspect, Jairo Chaides, a 37-year-old of White Water, assaulted his ex-girlfriend, held her against her will, and threatened to kill her while he brandished a black handgun. Chaides then fled the scene in a Ford pickup truck.

On January 19, 2023, at 4:38 PM, Sheriff’s Aviation located the Ford pickup truck on Interstate 10 near Washington Street in Palm Desert. A traffic stop was attempted by ground units and the driver, who was visually identified as Chaides, immediately fled at a high rate of speed. A vehicle pursuit was initiated, which travelled westbound on Interstate 10 to eastbound Hwy 62, then westbound Highway 62 to eastbound Interstate 10. During the pursuit, Chaides brandished a handgun and pointed it at deputies. CHP deployed a tire deflation device which successfully disabled the Ford pickup truck on eastbound Interstate 10 near Date Palm Drive. While he was sitting in the driver’s seat, Chaides pointed the handgun at his own head and refused to exit the vehicle. After numerous attempts of requesting Chaides to surrender peacefully, a chemical agent was deployed. Chaides sustained a self-inflicted non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was treated on-scene by deputies and Cathedral City Fire Department, then transported by ambulance to a local area hospital.

Chaides will remain in custody while he is being treated and will be later booked into the Riverside County Jail on charges of 245(d)(1) PC, 2800.2(a) VC, 422(a) PC, 236 PC, and 273.5(a) PC. His bail has been set at $1,000,000.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information regarding this incident or the initial crime is encouraged to call Investigator William Hickok of the Palm Desert Station at 760-836-1600.

File # G2022-04041

Details:

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 3:33 PM, Region 3 Gang Task Force Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 1700 Block of West Stetson Avenue, in the City of Hemet, on a Volkswagen sedan for several vehicle code violations. The driver of the vehicle, Cody Barnett, a documented criminal street gang member, failed to yield and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Barnett and his passenger, Tarah Henry, led Task Force Officers on a vehicle pursuit out of the city limits and into the unincorporated area of Hemet where the pursuit was terminated. Prior to the pursuit being terminated, a loaded firearm was discarded from the vehicle and recovered. A short time later and with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Aviation unit, the suspect vehicle was located abandoned near the 44000 block of Taffle Ranch Road.

The continued investigation led Task Force Officers and Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies to a nearby residence where Barnett and Henry barricaded themselves. Barnett and Henry subsequently exited the residence and were taken into custody without incident. A records check revealed Barnett had three felony warrants which included a no bail Parole violation and a warrant for felony evading. A records check revealed Henry had one felony warrant. Both Barnett and Henry were later transported to the Riverside County Jail.

The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force has been in existence since April 2006. The Law Enforcement Agencies within “The Valley” have been working together since this time on a daily basis. The Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force is comprised of members from the Hemet Police Department, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol. The law enforcement leadership within the valley meets regularly and coordinates the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force activities. Since the formation of the task force, leadership has recognized the importance of working together to provide the highest level of service for the citizens within the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley.

On Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 12:44 AM, Region 3 Gang Task Force Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 4600 Block of W. Florida Avenue, in the City of Hemet, on a Nissan sedan for vehicle code violations. As Task Force Officers began to approach the vehicle, it suddenly sped away at a high rate of speed which subsequently turned into a vehicle pursuit. The driver, Denzel Siah, was last seen driving eastbound on Florida Avenue at a high rate of speed just prior to the pursuit being terminated due to public safety concerns. A short time later, an uninvolved patrol officer with the Hemet Police Department indicated the Nissan had collided into a parked vehicle in the 100 Block of N. Inez St, in the City of Hemet, and Denzel was seen running from the vehicle. Denzel was later found hiding near a business and taken into custody. A small amount of Cocaine was located on Denzel and a backpack he was running with contained a loaded Glock 9mm which had a 30-round magazine. A records check revealed Denzel had two felony warrants, one being a no bail PRCS violation. Denzel was arrested for several weapons related charges, felony evading, and later transported to the Riverside County Jail.
