Deputies, along with paramedics from CalFire, responded within minutes and located a severely injured bicyclist laying in the roadway, which had collided with a black Kia Optima. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

On April 14, 2023 about 11:22 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the report of a major-injury traffic collision on Day Street, south of Box Springs Road, in the city of Moreno Valley. Deputies arrived on-scene to find the collision involved a white Volkswagen Passat and a pedestrian, who was found unresponsive in the roadway. Personnel from CalFire and America Medical Response responded to provide medical treatment for the pedestrian; after which, the pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital for further treatment.

The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed the Volkswagen was traveling northbound on Day Street towards Box Springs Road, when the pedestrian suddenly entered the roadway. The pedestrian was seen running eastbound across Day Street and entered the path of the Volkswagen. The driver of the Volkswagen attempted to avoid colliding with the pedestrian; however, the pedestrian was struck, resulting in major non-life threatening injuries. The pedestrian remained hospitalized for medical treatment. The driver of the Volkswagen was uninjured and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. At this time, neither intoxication, nor reckless driving appear to be a factor in this collision.

The collision investigation and evidence collection required the closure of Day Street, between Box Springs Road and the California 60 Freeway. The identities of the involved parties will not be released pending further investigation.

File # PE221510145

Details:

On Wednesday, May 31, 2022, at about 11:43 P.M., a Perris Sheriff’s Station deputy was flagged down by subjects in a vehicle in the area of Case Road and Ethanac Road, in the city of Perris. One of the occupants had been shot in the arm by a suspect in a tan Ford Fusion near the 3000 block of Case Road. Perris Station deputies immediately searched the area and located the suspect vehicle driving near Redlands Avenue and 7 Street, in Perris.

Two occupants of the suspect vehicle were detained. Perris Station Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The scene was processed and an expended 9mm casing was located. The suspect, 20 year-old Malik Davis, was the shooter. Detectives learned Davis and the passenger, went to a nearby convenience store, the passenger left a cell phone on the store counter. When they returned for the cell phone, they learned the store clerk gave the cell phone to someone else he thought was the owner.

The passenger tracked the cell phone and ultimately found the victim and her friend parked in the parking lot of the above address. Davis approached the victim’s vehicle, and fired one 9mm round into the victim’s vehicle, striking the victim in the left forearm. Davis was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center (CBDC) for Shooting at Inhabited Vehicle. This investigation is on-going.

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Chad Craig

File # MV221300001

On May 10, 2022, about 12:06 a.m., deputies driving a marked black and white Sheriff’s patrol vehicle were traveling east on Alessandro Blvd., in the city of Moreno Valley. As they approached the intersection of Lasselle Ave., they observed a white Nissan coupe doing burn-outs (commonly referred to as donuts) in the intersection. The deputies activated their vehicle’s emergency lights to conduct an enforcement stop on the Nissan for reckless driving. The Nissan ignored the deputies and continued doing several additional circles in the intersection. The Nissan then fled the area at a high rate of speed and attempted to evade the deputies by driving recklessly through residential streets. As deputies attempted to catch up, the driver of the Nissan made a U-turn, turned off the headlights, and drove straight toward two patrol vehicles. The deputies were forced to swerve to avoid being struck head-on by the suspect in the Nissan. As additional deputies were responding to the area to assist, the suspect drove through the intersection of Lasselle St., and Bay Ave., against the red light. The suspect collided with a marked Sheriff’s patrol traveling lawfully through the intersection on a green light. The suspect abandoned his vehicle, then fled the scene on foot. He was located in a nearby backyard. Two deputies sustained minor injuries as a result of the traffic collision. The driver was identified as Ramiro Benitez-Jimenez, a 23 year-old resident of Moreno Valley, who was arrested for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer.

Illegal street racing and sideshows are a growing issue throughout the Inland Empire. These types have incidents surged during the pandemic, as fewer people were on the roads. This has resulted in numerous innocent bystanders losing their lives. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station is looking into various ways to combat these types of illegal activities and is taking a low-tolerance approach to street racing. Taking over streets, destroying intersections, and driving at excessive speeds is dangerous and a serious threat to other motorists, pedestrians, and our community. No one should be killed or injured because someone wants to show off.

A conviction of illegal speed contest, reckless driving, or exhibition of speed could result in fines in excess of $1500, 90 days in jail, suspension of your driver license, and your vehicle being impounded for 30 days.

(Using a broker)

Greetings from the Hemet Car Guy,

There are so many ways people buy vehicles. They buy from new car dealers, used car dealers, buying services from banks credit unions, off the street and even get them from family members.

But did you know there is another way?

Many Celebrities, Dignitaries, and Large Businesses use an Auto Broker Service.

Why do you ask? Can you picture your favorite Celebrity negotiating back and forth on the showroom floor of a dealership?

Here are some things to consider for yourself

Hiring a broker to represent you in the buying process can save money, but will mainly save you time and hassle. If you are in the market for a new home, would you set out and represent yourself? Would you face a judge and jury without the proper attorney to represent you? Probably not. The reason we hire these professionals to represent us is because they are trained professionals and possess the skills in those areas to get you the best deal or negotiate your way through a legal matter.

Auto brokers bring knowledge and negotiating skills to the table on your behalf. They know the intricacies of dealerships, financing and buying in a way that the typical car buyer will probably never learn. Usually, these brokers have years or decades of experience in the industry, often on the other side of the desk. Many of them are former salespeople and dealership managers.

A professional car broker service can help you save a lot of time and money when shopping for a used or new vehicle. The job of car brokers is to simply help you find the vehicle of your choice and to help you find the best price. If you don’t have a lot of time, and don’t want to search for vehicles and prices yourself, then using a car broker will make purchasing a new or used vehicle a lot easier and less expensive.

We’re On Your Side.

The concept behind hiring an auto broker is relatively simple: you’re not a professional car buyer, so why go up against a professional car seller alone? With the confusion of financing, fees, add-ons, taxes and the hurried, jargon-filled nature of the dealership, it only makes sense to leave the bargaining to someone who won’t be fazed by the wheeling and dealing.

Why Should You Use A Car Broker?

Because car brokers are professionals at what they do, most of the time they will usually be able to get you a better price than you can get on your own.

However, One of the great advantages of new car brokering services is that they can usually get you the specific color, upholstery and factory-installed features you want on the model you like. Dealerships often charge extra for these services or claim that the automobile you want is impossible to find in the color or specifications you have in mind, simply because they don’t carry it themselves.

But much of what a broker provides is convenience and peace of mind.

(vehicle pet-friendly)

Greetings From The Hemet Car Guy,

As this year’s Chairman of the Chamber, I attend a lot ribbon-cuttings. My wife Bambi loves our dogs and grand dogs. Yes, they are like family to all of us. The Wednesday before Halloween, the “Small Animal Care Center” in San Jacinto had their grand-opening ribbon-cutting. We were happy to attend, not only for the new business in our valley, but for additional care options for our dogs…especially for the new puppy she just saved.

Besides cleaning up after them, these are things that I’ve learned to live with: When were sitting on the couch, it’s perfectly acceptable for the dog, even one that weighs upwards of 100lbs, to jump up and carve out a nest for himself between the two of you.

I’ve seen literally thousands of pictures of her dog via Facebook, and lots of texts that say “OMG look what Drew just did!”

When she is talking to the dog, I’m referred to as “daddy.”

Nothing is cuter than catching the two of them taking a nap together.

I can’t get mad at the pup for tearing up his bed, he’s just a pup

According to her, The Car Guy needs to write about “Vehicles for Dogs.”

So here is the “dog car” article:

When it comes to cars for dog owners, there’s no question that some vehicles are simply better than others. Whether you’re setting out on a long road trip or running out for a quick in-town errand, you want to be able to transport your furry friend as safely, conveniently and comfortably as possible.

When shopping for a new set of wheels, you may have many considerations, but carting your canine properly should be one of them. There are a number of desired features that can help make your vehicle choice a more pet-friendly one:

A rear lift gate allows your dog to jump in and out of the car easily; it also makes for more convenient loading in/loading out of pet carriers, crates and kennels.

Fold-flat seats create a spacious area for your dog to sit while keeping the actual surface of the seats clean from hair or scratches.

An airy cabin is especially beneficial for large dogs to stretch out.

Rear cargo-attachment ringlets help keep carriers and crates from sliding around.

A containment barrier/divider keeps your dog from jumping up to the front seat while the car is in motion.

A low ride height helps dogs — especially older ones — get in and out with ease.

Rear climate control keeps your dog cool and comfortable in transit no matter what the weather is like.

A sunroof brings fresh air and sunlight so you can keep your dog from hanging its head out of the window.

Underfloor storage gets your things out of the way so your dog can ride more comfortably.

These features will enhance comfort and convenience. Since driving around with your dog has its risks, safe transport should be at the top of your mind.

Some states require owners to crate or tether animals while in motion; other states, such as Connecticut, have general distracted-driving laws that can be applied to animal-related incidents. New Jersey categorizes an improperly restrained pet as a disorderly-conduct offense. Penalties for violations vary by state, but ultimately, common sense should prevail.

In other words, it may be fun for your dog to ride on your lap on the highway, but it’s clearly not the best idea.

Oh yes we are getting him shots and getting him neutered.

From crossovers to minivans to wagons, there are many well-suited cars for dog owners.

VIP Autos here in Hemet has a good selection of pet friendly vehicles.

Richard Perry

Good driving from,
