Suspect Apprehended After a Vehicle Pursuit on the Freeway

Date:

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Sheree Anthony

File # MV240230141

Details:

On January 23, 2024, at 12:10 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the 23000 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, regarding an adult female trespassing in the parking lot of the business and refusing to leave. The female, later identified as Adriana Sandoval, a 26-year-old resident of Riverside, was the driver of a silver Chevrolet sedan with two young juveniles in the backseat. Sandoval was uncooperative with responding deputies and sped away, nearly striking a deputy when she left. Deputies attempted a vehicle enforcement stop, but the vehicle did not yield and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Sandoval traveled on the 60 freeway west and the 215 freeway north, striking multiple innocent vehicles in her path. There were no injuries reported from those collisions.

The pursuit concluded in lanes of traffic on the northbound Interstate 215 freeway, just east of Blaine Street in the city of Riverside. Sandoval barricaded herself inside her vehicle on the freeway and ignored all commands to surrender. While negotiating with Sandoval, another vehicle drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 215 freeway, in an attempt to prevent the arrest of Sandoval. The driver of that vehicle was identified as Johnathan Roldan, a 24-year-old resident of Riverside. Roldan was known to Sandoval and was arrested for obstructing an investigation, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

Adriana Sandoval

After nearly 20 minutes of negotiations with Sandoval, she was removed from the vehicle and arrested. The young children were located safe inside the vehicle and taken into protective custody. This investigation required the closure of the Interstate 215 north east of Blaine Street for approximately 30 minutes. Sandoval was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer, reckless evading, child endangerment, and resisting a peace officer. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Anyone with additional information regarding the investigation is urged to contact Deputy Ismael Bermudez of the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700.
