1 Killed In 2-Vehicle Collision In Riverside

RIVERSIDE, CA — A 26-year-old man who died in a two-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 215 was identified Sunday.

The crash happened at 9:33 p.m. Saturday just north of Columbia Avenue when red Honda Accord and a gray Chevrolet Tahoe collided, overturning the latter and trapping a person inside the former, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses told CHP officers that multiple children, including an infant, were inside the Tahoe. Good samaritans helped the victims until authorities arrived.

According to the Riverside County Coroner, Juan Carlos Medina Paniagua of San Bernardino succumbed to his injuries at Riverside Community Hospital after the crash. It was not immediately clear which vehicle he had been traveling in.

Traffic in the nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 lanes was stopped during the investigation.
