Body of Lost Hiker Found – October 3, 2020

On October 3, 2020, about 1:27 P.M., deputies from the Thermal station received a call of a missing hiker in the La Quinta Cove hiking trail.  The hiker had left on October 1, 2020, and did not return home.

On October 4, 2020, about 6:00 A.M., volunteers of the Desert Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team began a search of the area.

Helicopters from the California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the search and located the hiker deceased.  The hiker was found off the designated hiking trail.  The hiker will remain unidentified at this time, pending Coroner notification to the next of kin.
