On Sunday, July 31, 2022, La Quinta deputies responded to a major injury traffic collision involving two vehicles just after 9:40 a.m. The collision occurred at the intersection of Seely Drive and Miles Avenue, in the city of La Quinta. Two people were transported to a local hospital for major injuries, one of which succumbed to their wounds later in the day. The cause of the traffic collision is still under investigation and the name of the deceased has not been released. At this time, deputies do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
