On September 24, 2023, at 8:46 pm, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Station received a call of a major injury traffic collision on Van Buren Boulevard, north of 56th Street. Deputies, along with paramedics from Cal Fire, responded and located a single-vehicle traffic collision with a horse. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire personnel. The horse was also located deceased. The Jurupa Valley Traffic Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation, which is ongoing. The driver’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
