Toni Atkins Opens Campaign Headquarters with Strong Show of San Diego Support

 Democratic leader and gubernatorial candidate Toni Atkins officially opened her campaign headquarters in San Diego, joined by a powerhouse lineup of local leaders and supporters.

Standing alongside Atkins were Congressman Scott PetersMayor Todd GloriaState Senator Steve Padilla, Assemblymember Chris WardCounty Supervisor Paloma AguirreChairwoman Erica Pinto of the Jamul Indian Village of California, Jesse Garcia of the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters, and Cori Schumacher representing IBEW Local 569.

The event drew more than 200 energized attendees, highlighting Atkins’ deep roots and broad support across the San Diego region — where she has served the community in public office for over 30 years.

“What I saw [when we worked together on the city council] is what people have seen again and again,” Congressman Scott Peters said. “She can cut through the noise; she understands the issues. She’s listening to you, and she’s thinking about the solutions.”

“When I think of a word for Toni, I think of the word ‘authentic’,” San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria said. “Toni Atkins is the real deal. And she’s spent her entire career uplifting the people of this state, of this city, and this community for a long time.”

“She sees all of us, especially those who’ve been pushed to the margins, and she brings our voices right to the center of power,” Assemblymember Chris Ward said. “So if you’re tired of the fear, tired of the hate, and ready for a California that lifts everyone up, then you’re ready to elect Toni Atkins as our next Governor!
