The investigation involved allegations that a substitute teacher at Orange Vista High School in Perris committed a lewd act with a minor student.

On May 1, 2023, deputies developed information of the location of David Salcida. Deputies responded to the area of 29000 block of Rawlings Way, Lake Elsinore. Salcida attempted to flee but was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

On May 1, 2023, at 4:02 AM, a San Jacinto Sheriff Deputy was flagged down on San Jacinto Avenue near Seventh Street regarding a possible traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
