Soboba celebrates at Rose Salgado Elementary School groundbreaking

The decision to name San Jacinto Unified School District’s eighth elementary school after Soboba Tribal Member and community leader Rose Salgado was made by a unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees in April 2022. Hundreds of supporters and friends, along with members of Salgado’s family, gathered at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the school on Dec. 11 at 600 N. Vernon Ave. in San Jacinto.

Soboba spreads Christmas joy with toys

Thousands of children will wake up on Christmas morning to a new toy thanks to the generosity of the Soboba Foundation and the Soboba Casino Resort. This year, Hemet and San Jacinto unified school districts each received 1,000 toys to distribute to identified students in the valley.

Steve Lopez, Assistant Director for Soboba Parks and Recreation and Harold Arres, Regional TANF Manager for Soboba Tribal TANF, collaborated on a day of fun for youth that were off school for the week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Once again this year, the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, Soboba Foundation and Soboba Casino Resort gathered together to ensure that the neediest families in the San Jacinto Valley could be thankful for a hearty turkey meal on Thanksgiving Day.
