California law enforcement groups are making sizable donations to candidates for attorney general, treasurer and Legislature before the June 7 primary. The biggest recipient is Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert, who is trying to unseat Attorney General Rob Bonta.

California’s housing crisis can seem insurmountable. The median home price is more than $800,000, the state needs millions of additional homes to give everyone a place to live and homelessness is on the rise. Progress is abysmal. The state called for the construction of 180,000 new units annually between 2015 and 2025 to close the gap. We built fewer than half as many, only about 80,000 new units per year.

As war rages on in Ukraine, President Joe Biden will huddle with key allies in Brussels and Warsaw this week to talk through plans for imposing punishing new sanctions on Russia and dealing with an extraordinary humanitarian crisis, while developing a consensus on how they would respond if Russia were to launch a cyber, chemical or even nuclear attack.

President Joe Biden on Monday urged U.S. companies to make sure their digital doors are locked tight because of “evolving intelligence” that Russia is considering launching cyberattacks against critical infrastructure targets as the war in Ukraine continues.

Some cities have failed to build housing for decades and are willfully ignoring state laws designed to create more of the housing we need. California currently has a deficit of more than 2.5 million homes across our state – and every city is going to have to step up and do its part to close that gap.
