PERRIS, CA — A 19-year-old man who died last week after smashing into a parked semi in Perris was identified Tuesday.
Adrian Quiroz of Perris was driving eastbound on Ellis Avenue from Redlands Avenue at about 6:48 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, when he crashed his sedan into the parked rig.
When Riverside County deputies arrived at the scene, they found Quiroz suffering from major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s department.
A GoFundMe page identified Quiroz as an Orange Vista High School graduate who had enlisted with U.S. military.
“Adrian had big dreams and, from a young age, displayed remarkable maturity,” the page reads. “He was a special individual, always helpful, kind, and respectful. Adrian will be missed tremendously.
“The semi-truck driver was inside the rig’s cab at the time of the crash and was not injured.
The crash cause is still under investigation by the sheriff’s department. It is unknown whether drugs and/or alcohol were factors, the agency said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Deputy Joseph Puente of the Perris Sheriff’s Station at 951-210-1000 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
