California inmate charged with unemployment benefits fraud
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — A California prisoner is one of two people accused of stealing more than $100,000 in unemployment benefits in the latest allegation related to what authorities say is a multibillion-dollar fraud aided by lax safeguards at a state agency.
Biden vows enough vaccine for all US adults by end of May
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden said Tuesday the U.S. expects to take delivery of enough coronavirus vaccine for all adults by the end of May — two months earlier than anticipated — and he pushed states to get at least one shot into the arms of teachers by the end of May to hasten school reopenings.
California crash kills 13 of 25 people crammed into SUV
HOLTVILLE, Calif. (AP) — An SUV packed with 25 people pulled in front of an oncoming tractor-trailer on a two-lane highway cutting through farmland near the Mexican border early Tuesday, killing 13 and leaving bodies strewn across the roadway.
When police arrived some of the passengers were trying to crawl out of the crumpled 1997 Ford Expedition, the front end of the rig still pushing into its left side and two empty trailers jackknifed behind it. Other victims were wandering around the fields.
Residential Burglary
On Saturday, February 27, 2021, about 2:53 P.M., deputies responded to the 6000 block of Mulan Street in the city of Eastvale in reference to a burglary in progress. Residents in the area called to report the suspect breaking into a residence through a rear window. While deputies were responding to the location the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Henry Brice, resident of Rancho Cucamonga, was seen by residents fleeing the house in a vehicle. Witnesses were able to direct responding deputies to the vehicle as it fled, a traffic stop was conducted, and Brice was taken into custody without incident. A search of Brice’s vehicle revealed a loaded pistol in the passenger compartment. Brice was arrested for residential burglary and possession of an unregistered firearm and subsequently booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
Prohibited Weapon / Manufacturing Narcotics Arrest
On February 26, 2021 at 2:41 A.M., deputies assigned to the city of Eastvale conducted a pro-active enforcement stop of a vehicle near the 5800 block of Hamner Avenue in the city of Eastvale. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies arrested Noah Christopher Reed (19-year-old resident of Eastvale) for possessing an illegally manufactured firearm. Further investigation at Reed’s residence yielded evidence indicative of manufacturing illegal narcotics. Reed was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for charges related to illegal possession of a firearm and manufacturing narcotics.
