US says order coming this week on border asylum restrictions

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will issue an order this week about how migrant children are treated under a public health order that has prevented people from seeking asylum at the nation's borders, a Justice Department attorney said Tuesday.

Small plane crashes into Northern California home

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A small plane crashed into a home in a gated community in the hills of Monterey County on Tuesday, starting a fire in the house that spread to nearby bushes. It is not yet known if people were inside the residence or how many people were on the plane, officials said.

California changes course on schools enforcing mask mandate

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — After initially telling schools they must send students home if they refuse to wear masks indoors, California public health officials abruptly changed course and said districts will be able to decide how to enforce the mask mandate.

On July 10, 2021, at 9:30 PM, Gang Task Force Officers from Region 2 conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of West Nicolet Street and 2nd Street on an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV). The driver, identified as Deshawn Smith, a thirty-four year old resident of the City of Banning, failed to stop. A short vehicle pursuit ensued and concluded in the 400 block of 3rd Street. Smith exited the ATV and ran into a residence and threw a backpack he had been wearing. Gang Task Force Officers pursued after Smith and he was placed under arrest.

Firefighters make progress against big fires in US West

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dozens of wildfires burned across the torrid U.S. West on Monday but fire agencies reported some progress in corralling the flames and forecasters predicted a gradual decrease in extreme temperatures.
