A California fire that gutted hundreds of homes advanced toward Lake Tahoe on Wednesday as thousands of firefighters tried to box in the flames and tourists who hoped to boat or swim were enveloped in a thick yellow haze of the nation's worst air.

During the course of this investigation, three suspects were identified in the murder of victim, Jamon Hampton. The suspects are Maurice Williamson, 31 years of Riverside, Davonte Rowe, 24 years of Riverside, and DaRon Hooks II, 20 years of Riverside.

A Northern California couple pleaded guilty Tuesday to forcing a Guatemalan relative and her two daughters to work long hours under poor conditions while keeping the girls out of school with threats that they would be deported.
