On Monday, November 8th, 2021 at 12:40 P.M., Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Perris Station, responded to the 17100 block of Hidalgo Dr. in the unincorporated area of Perris regarding a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies responded and located a victim with a moderate arm injury as a result of being struck with a machete. Deputies rendered medical aid to the victim’s arm to control the bleeding prior to Emergency Medical services arrival. The victim was transported via ambulance to a hospital for further treatment and the injury is not considered life threatening. The investigation identified Loren Montoya (40 years) of Perris as the suspect, however, he had fled prior to law enforcement arrival. Deputies searched the surrounding neighborhood ultimately locating Montoya in the 22000 block of Gavilan Rd. Montoya was arrested without incident for assault with a deadly weapon, and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
