Suspect Arrested for Attempted Robbery at Business

On July 17, 2023, at 5:20 p.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station responded to the report of a robbery in-progress near the 12000 block of Heacock Street, Moreno Valley. Employees at the business advised the suspect pointed an object at them, simulating he had a firearm, then demanded money from the cash register. The suspect attempted to open the cash register, but was unsuccessful. Deputies arrived within minutes and established a perimeter around the business. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Justin Rusty Martinez, a 35 year-old resident of Moreno Valley. Martinez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for attempted robbery.
