Details:

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, deputies from the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility responded to an unresponsive male in the intake area. Custody staff and jail medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures. Paramedics responded and assumed life-saving measures. The male, however, was ultimately pronounced deceased.

Deputies secured the area and began an investigation. Investigators from the Corrections Central Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate has been identified as 58-year-old Charles Giurbino of Hemet. There are no signs of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing.
