JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A motorcyclist who was killed in an apparent hit-and-run crash last week was identified Monday as a 24-year-old Riverside man.

Alfonso Rodriguez was pronounced dead at Riverside Community Hospital about 30 minutes after the 3:40 a.m. May 30 crash at 5981 Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley, according to the coroner’s office.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that the motorcyclist was struck by a vehicle. Deputies and paramedics arrived and found the rider, later identified as Rodriguez, gravely injured in the roadway.

The motorist who hit the bike allegedly fled the scene but was tracked down.

“The ensuing investigation led to the identification of the other vehicle, and it was later located at a residence in Jurupa Valley,” the sheriff’s department announced last week. “The driver … was identified, and the vehicle was impounded.”

No arrest was announced and the driver’s name was not released.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to contact the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-955-2600.
