Riverside County Animal Services is extending one of its most popular adoption specials until Dec. 4. The Black Saturday Special gives would-be adopters the chance to find their perfect pet for free all week – the first time Animal Services has offered the post-Thanksgiving promotion for a full week. Participating shelters include the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms and the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley.

Millions of us will be traveling to visit friends and family over the holidays. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, San Jacinto Station, encourages everyone to have a holiday game plan that includes a designated sober driver.

On Monday, November 29, 2021, deputies assigned to Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Railroad Canyon Road and Canyon Hills Road, regarding a stolen vehicle out of Long Beach. Deputies attempted an enforcement stop at which time a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle stopped in the 33000 block of Mist flower Court, the suspect fled the vehicle on foot into a ravine. The Riverside County Sheriff’s SWAT, K-9 Unit, and Aviation Unit arrived on scene and conducted an extensive check of the surrounding area for the suspect with negative results. The vehicle was recovered at the scene. As a precaution, schools in the area were placed on lockdown. Once the search was exhausted the lockdown was lifted. The incident remains under investigation and there’s no threat to the public.

The older I get the more I am amazed at how gullible some people are! P.T. Barnum once said, “There’s a sucker born every minute,” and he was right. There is just no limit to what some people will believe!

Each year, the Historic Hemet Theatre hosts a December Christmas show featuring a top tribute band. On Saturday December 18th, HHT will host “Merry Little Christmas,” a tribute to Linda Ronstadt, performed by Ronstadt Revival.
