A 52-year-old man died early Monday, Sept. 20, when the pickup he was driving drifted into oncoming traffic near Hemet and collided with a semi truck, the California Highway Patrol said.

With the top tribute bands in the nation lined up every month, it is little surprise that the Historic Hemet Theatre is able to fill the auditorium for nearly every show. On Tuesday September 14, 2021, at approximately 7:15 PM Gang Task Force Officers were patrolling the area of 500 West Florida Avenue, when they conducted a vehicle check on a Dodge Charger for multiple vehicle code violations. Task Force Officers contacted the driver, Ivan Torres. An inventory search of the vehicle was conducted and a 9mm Handgun, with an altered serial number was found. Torres is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. Torres was arrested on multiple weapons charges and later transported to Riverside County Jail.
