The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service (CMS) is launching the next phase of the Maternal and Infant Health Initiative (MIHI) today to support state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) agencies in their efforts to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) Community Resource Centers (CRCs) are giving back to families in need this holiday season by hosting contactless, pull-up and pick-up drive thru events, distributing free toy gift sets for children ages 3-12 years on December 18. Gift sets will include three toys per child and will vary depending on age.

The typical routine a school year brings has been lost this year, as students adjust to hybrid or fully remote learning models and ever-changing reopening plans. According to McKinsey, 75% of the 50 largest school districts in the country have decided to start remotely, and the UN estimates that 94% of the world’s student population has been impacted.

Hundreds more hospitals around the country began dispensing COVID-19 shots to their workers in a rapid expansion of the U.S. vaccination drive Tuesday, while a second vaccine moved to the cusp of government authorization. A day after the rollout of Pfizer-BioNTech's coronavirus shots, the Food and Drug Administration said its preliminary analysis confirmed the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine developed by Moderna and the National Institutes of Health.

The Hemet/San Jacinto Student of the Month program recently recognized six local high school seniors for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school activities, athletics and community service. Students were nominated by teachers or other school personnel for making a difference in their home, school and community.
