Soboba’s Annual Events Return in Full Swing
The Soboba Foundation & Soboba Casino Resort Charity Golf Tournament celebrated its 10th year of togetherness, caring, helping others and giving back to community nonprofits with its two-day event a few weeks ago. On April 10, the Tribal Easter Picnic brought out all ages for egg hunts, picnic games and a catered lunch for families to enjoy.
Autism Acceptance Marketplace at Soboba Welcomes Families for a Fun Day Out
April is Autism Acceptance month and to help families who have children with special needs, Loren “Nena” Davila and Antiana Briones of Suvóova Sweet Treats teamed up to host a marketplace at the old Soboba Casino on April 3.
Soboba Delegation Goes to Sacramento to Support California Indian Education Act
Several members of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians traveled to the state capital on March 23 to voice their support for the California Indian Education Act. Assembly Bill 1703, introduced by Assemblymember James C. Ramos, will encourage school districts, county offices of education and charter schools to form California Indian education task forces with California Tribes local to their regions or historically located in their regions.
San Jacinto Rotary Club Honors Marian Chacon of Soboba
The annual San Jacinto Rotary Club awards dinner that got put on hold for a couple of years due to the pandemic, returned March 21 to recognize six honorees who make a difference in their community. Among them was Marian Chacon who was named Soboba Tribal Elder and Community Leader for 2022.
Body, Mind & Spirit Celebrated at Soboba
Kelli Hurtado of “Let’s Get Moving Mondays” hosted a Body, Mind & Spirit Wellness Fair at the Soboba Sports Complex on March 13. About 30 vendors, located inside and outside the gymnasium, shared health-related information and items with hundreds of guests who attended throughout the six-hour event.
