On September 3, 2023, at 2:11 a.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at Barbara Street and Dracaea Avenue. When deputies arrived, they located two victims who were deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Investigators from the Moreno Valley Station and the Central Homicide Unit were notified and responded to assume the investigation. While deputies were containing the crime scene, a third gunshot victim had arrived at a local hospital and was being treated for his injuries. All three victims were believed to be related to the same shooting. The deceased victims were later identified as Bryan Garcia, a 21-year-old male from Moreno Valley and Ruben Perez, a 22-year-old male also from Moreno Valley. The third victim is expected to survive, his identity is being withheld at this time.
