Fatal Traffic Collision

On January 28, 2022, about 8:51 PM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Southwest Station, responded to the report of a major injury traffic collision near the intersection of Margarita Rd. and Moraga Rd. in the city of Temecula. Deputies learned the collision involved a single vehicle and a bicyclist. Life saving measures were started by the initial motor deputy on scene until fire fighters took over these efforts. The bicyclist succumbed to the injuries on scene.

Accident Investigators from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist was outside of the marked bicycle lane attempting to cross Margarita Rd. before the traffic collision occurred. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with law enforcement.

The identity of the involved party will not be released pending further investigation and the notification to next of kin.
