Fatal Traffic Collision Involving a Sheriff’s Vehicle

Details:

On October 10, 2023, at 3:40 AM, an on-duty Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a collision with a bicyclist in the area of County Club Drive and Eldorado Drive in Palm Desert. The deputy was not operating his vehicle in an emergency response mode at the time of the collision. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid to the bicyclist until paramedics arrived. Paramedics pronounced the bicyclist deceased at the scene. California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded and assumed the investigation. Please refer collision-related inquiries to CHP.
