Fatal Traffic Collision Involving a Sheriff’s Vehicle

Details:

On May 25, 2023, at 3:54 AM, an on-duty Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a collision with a pedestrian in the area of Cactus Avenue and Heacock Street in Moreno Valley. The deputy was not operating his vehicle in an emergency response mode at the time of the collision. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid to the pedestrian until paramedics arrived. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded and assumed the investigation. Please refer collision-related inquiries to CHP.
