Man Shot During Gang-Related Confrontation In Hemet

HEMET, CA — An investigation was ongoing Friday into an apparent gang- related gunfight that left a man wounded in Hemet.

The shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday in the area of East Stetson Avenue and South State Street, according to the Hemet Police Department.

The agency said “multiple subjects” were involved in a confrontation that culminated in an exchange of gunfire, prompting numerous 911 calls.

By the time Hemet patrol officers reached the location, all but one of the parties had fled. The remaining individual, whose name was not disclosed, had suffered a single gunshot wound and was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment, according to police.

He had stable vital signs as of Friday.

“This is an active investigation and no arrests have been made,” according to HPD.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Gang Task Force personnel were assisting Hemet police detectives in sorting out what occurred and trying to identify suspects.
