Mother Assaulted by Adult Family Member

On Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 8:51 a.m., deputies from San Jacinto received a report of a woman stabbed inside her residence located in the 500 block of Peregrine Lane. Upon their arrival, deputies were told the victim, a 56-year-old Hispanic female of San Jacinto, was stabbed by her adult son and the son fled the area on foot. Deputies provided aid to the victim and captured the son, Charles Diaz, nearby in the neighborhood of the residence. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her wounds. Diaz was arrested and transported by deputies to the Hemet Sheriff’s Station.

Investigators from the Hemet San Jacinto Station responded and assumed the investigation. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and the home was processed for evidence. Charles Diaz was later booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for the attempted murder of his mother.
